I think it's great. The founder and CEO of Amazon can certainly afford what ever this will cost him. Jeff Bezos' Space Trip Takes Place on Apollo 11 Anniversary
Have to admit, Babs, there are times I really, really wish Trump was still President, but. As far as Dr. Fauci goes, like any other infectious disease doctor, he is consider an expert in his field, has the education and experience that nobody on this forum has. So..............
Sure glad I found this thread, so I wouldn't start a new one. Thanks to Beth, I now look before starting. Anyway, the approximate cost of this flight, to the public, will be $250,000. For wife and I, we simply are that much, if any, into "exploration", so.............no thanks, even if we had that kind of money.
I caught just the end of the Branson space flight this morning. It's a kind of Kitty Hawk event. 100 years from now - assuming humans don't destroy the planet and themselves before then, and the Vulcans haven't yet rescued us from our own stupidity -- history will mark this era of billionairitis as the start of the era of colonizing space. Already there is an argument going on as to whether Branson went high enough to be considered actually entering space, and if the Bezos flight will achieve a higher level. When I heard this, my first thought was, rich boys and their toys. Kinda seems the billionaire's ego version of mine's bigger than yours.
Donald John Trump is still President Cody...and one day in the near future...you will know that. As for Fauci...that man is a spawn of Satan and as a Christian Cody you should know that.
Yeah. Congrats. He went up to the edge of space and came back. Some of the media are all gushy about the flight touting it as even greater than the flights of Shepard and Glen. Somehow I’m just not that impressed when compared to the real hero’s who did what they did because it was another barrier that hadn’t been crossed. Think about it. Americans go into space and stay at the space lab for an indefinite amount of time and yet, most folks do not even know their names. They’re in real space, doing real work and taking real space walks because it’s something they had to fight for and train for a very long time in order to be even considered for a flight to the station. But let a billionaire buy his way onto the launchpad and not even hit space and he’s a hero.
In one form or another, everyone pays taxes. Why do you quote me when asking a question that doesn’t have any context or bearing on the subject?
I listened to all of the post-flight presser and was impressed with his vision and plans for the next chapter of the space race, and his intention to pioneer climate stabilizing technologies in an energy sustainable way. Also impressive was his gifting two people with $100 million each for them to donate to causes that help the disadvantaged in a myriad of ways. Good for him.
Oh there’s no doubt that he’s a philanthropist and has proven that part over and over. The part I’m not particularly impressed with is his flight or maybe I’m just not as impressed with it nor him as the media is. From observing CNN on YouTube, I was sure they were going to pronounce him some sort of deity or suggest he be king.
I don't think of Bezos as a hero and I don't think that he thinks it either. He pays plenty in taxes and so do his hundreds of employees.
