There have been some great events and I'm surprised there have been no comments.

I don't care for sports when politics are in any way involved. I was once an avid baseball and (especially) football fan, but once politics entered the picture, I now pretty much ignore both. I watched sports as an escape from realty, but when the millionaires protest how badly they are treated for playing a silly game, I drop out.

That is a terrible excuse and makes no sense. Not watching has no effect on the protesting millionaires.

    Actually, it does.

The vast majority of revenue comes from advertising and trademark licensing revenues. (Stadiums/ticket sales are a necessary expense to provide ambience.) When the ratings go down because there are no eyes on the tvs, then the price of advertising shall plummet, which drags down revenue, which funds player salaries.

Besides, it has less to do with the effect on protesting millionaires than it does personal principles. Many times the only way we have to voice our displeasure and disagreement is to not participate. I think the players unfairly slander this nation while benefiting from it at a level only a fraction of a percent of people do. The word is "hypocrite."

Regardless, at the end of the day, those millionaires will be whoever they choose to be, just as you and I shall be.

I just read where the biological man from New Zealand didn't qualify in the women's weight lifting event. And may I say, "LOL."

Saw something I have never seen today.
Whilst at the gym, there were a few people gathered around one of the suspended TV screens so I decided to saunter over and see what the buzz was all about: It was another kind of handball. I’ve seen handball, played handball but not the kind of handball those women were playing.

Two teams of women were playing with a round ball which appeared to be a bit smaller than a volleyball and maybe not as inflated as other sports balls. The goals were floor nets about half the size of soccer nets.
The whole thing looked like uh…a combination of very fast paced indoor soccer and maybe basketball. The girls couldn’t travel with the ball and I think they had to bounce it once before throwing it to a team member and they couldn’t make contact with an opposing team member which would draw a penalty.
The penalty was a free throw at the net which I doubt seriously if any of the goal keepers could guard against.
As I wrote before, it was extremely fast paced and during the 5 minutes I was watching I didn’t see any exchanges of players from the benches so endurance was pretty much the name of the game.

The thing is, how did we get an olympic team together in a sport I have never heard of? I don’t think Alabama or Auburn has a team and if they do they keep it pretty well hidden. I mean, almost all olympic athletes come out of a college or university so…..?

Thanks for your opinion, but, as @John Brunner says, it may affect revenues if enough people do it, and besides that, my not watching is more for my benefit than any kind of protest. Why should I watch something that does nothing for my well-being? I don't watch soccer or basketball either, and never have. While they can be somewhat enjoyable to play, I find watching those sports a terrible waste of time and very boring--one sport neve scores, and the other is so silly that NOT scoring when you possess the ball is the exception. The NBA is TOTALLY political now; the league once rescued from extinction by an intelligent good-looking athlete is now being destroyed by a stupid, ugly buffoon who happens to be good at basketball.

    Not at all John.
Here, I found a video of it. It is as I wrote before, I only saw about 5 minutes of the game and I see in this video that they don’t have to bounce the ball (or maybe some positions do?) and there are some player changes during the game. Like women’s softball, these gals don’t throw like girls. I actually enjoy watching it!

That's not handball, except Wiki says it is one form of it.
It looks more like water polo after they drained the pool. The parallels are there.

Here are all the handball variations that Wiki lists:. I had no idea.
