I guess I'm the odd person out, but it makes me very nervous to watch the gymnasts perform on the high beams. It seems to me one wrong move and you could break your neck instantly. Why does it have to be that high? Why not make it 6 inches off the ground? There would be no jumping off to see if you break your ankle? I think it is like that just for the spectators. Just my opinion...
Never been a big sports fan. And since I haven't been watching much broadcast TV lately, I haven't been prompted to watch the Olympics. I may go to the Peacock streaming app and watch replays of the equestrian events.
I was wrong my SoC friends have taken an interest. To be honest I put aside the politics or commercialism of the Olympics and concentrate on the sports. No where on earth are so many sports shown in the one place and no where are all the world's best athletes assembled on one stage. It is a sporting smorgasbord with all our tastes catered for.
Sounds very much like the hand ball now being played in Tokyo. I have seen it played in previous Olympics too. Exciting game. Big in Europe I am told.
Yeah, the olympics were on the TV at the gym the other day and they were playing their version of handball. @John Brunner had the best description of the game when he mentioned it looked like water polo without water.
Except for this year, I've never missed an Olympics, and I don't ever recall seeing this game played before...in any venue.
Maybe the U.S. didn’t have a team until now so naturally in years past it wouldn’t be shown in the American media. ?
Some of it. But like most sports now some fool has to play victim and ruin it for all. I do feel bad for GOAT though she is amazing and deserves a break, imo.
