I am tempted to order a pair of high waist jeggings. I had a lower-waisted pair but the waist was too large for my hip and leg size. I also put comfort first but do have phobias about certain styles.
I have the opposite problem now; my waist seems to have disappeared and to get a waistband that's comfortable, the hips and thighs of pants are huge. This has lead me to the dreaded elastic waist section but like I said, "comfort."
Well, Marie, just because I no longer rodeo (Team Rope) in professional rodeo and Faye no longer ranches, sure doesn't mean we are no longer "country" or "Western". Many of our threads on this forum prove that we still have both deeply imbedded in our hearts and souls.
Sounds like a nice place to live. I love the hills but hubby is from the flatlands of coastal SCarolina and he can't stand hills.so we are down here in Flroida where you couldn't find a rock with a microscope! I use to love to run thru the woods in Stone Mountain Ga.. Had a lot of fun with my donkey Katy. Hubby rode horses I rode bucking donks.
Since the title of this thread is about denim and how age affects our desire to don denim, I am thinking about taking heavy denim from legs of tapered leg jeans that were cut off for shorts and making a long denim skirt for winter. I have made denim vests and short skirts in the past but never a skirt over the knees. With knee-high boots .........
Have you bought demin off of bolts to make skirts, or has it always been reclaimed from pants? My mother used to make clothes, so between that as a kid and hobbies I've had as an adult, I've spent some time in fabric stores. I don't know that I've seen bolts of denim.
It sounded good till you got to the denim skirt, never saw a skirt made from denim that looked good on a woman. Have a friend that wore they all the time. But thats just me. Don't like leather skirts either.
Yes, they have bolts of denim, but all my homemade denim is from old jeans legs. @Marie Mallery I never like commercially made denim skirts either because they still had the top of the jeans with belt loops, zipper, etc. I make mine to look like a paneled skirt with a bit of flare. I am thinking of a velcro attach and a wrap skirt style.
I love my Levi's. It's the brand that fits me best. I have more jeans than dress slacks, casual slacks, or sweatpants. If I can't wear jeans somewhere, it's likely I'm not going there. Bury me in my jeans. Don't love that they have too many versions, making replacing ones with a smaller size or different color difficult. Also don't love that most are made outside the US now. They are not the same quality, and what's with the stupid short pockets that I can't get my whole hand in and barely hold my keys?!
See my thread under Hobbies titled DIY Repurposed Denim Skirt for the basic layout. Now getting my machine out and getting it started is the next step. I think it is going to be really nice but I lack the motivation to concentrate on sewing besides I haven't totally decided exactly how I want to secure it. I have four ideas in mind.
