I do not do modern dance. Do not put me on the dance floor and tell me to "just move." It is not natural. It is not normal. Please don't tell me to smile...I am not having fun. (I'll stop there...but you get the point.)

I do enjoy dances with organized moves: square dancing, polka, etc. I took dance lessons once. I was pretty good at ballroom dancing; but again, there are moves to it.

LOL hubby didn't like to dance or learn to dance I should say, but he got to liking it before we got old. Now and then he will dance with me but most of the time it hurts him so its seldom.

Even in my teen years I hated it. I used to play trumpet. I have this theory that musicians cannot dance or hate to dance...at least the "get out there and just flail" stuff.

When I took those ballroom classes, I signed up on my own hoping to find an available partner (I did.) The classes were advertised for singles or for couples. The instructor was glad to have me. Then a couple of lessons in, my partner's boyfriend got jealous and he signed up to be with her (likely her well-crafted plan all along.) Then I was on my own, and the instructor turned nasty because I did not bring someone with me. Her name was "Joy." How appropriate.

Guess it didn't make you want to be a great dancer after that.

Her business was called "Dance for Joy."
I could never figure out if it was light-hearted or over-controlling.

I was OK. I only took the lessons for something to do. Had I learned ballroom dancing, I have no idea where or when I would ever put it to use. Funny, I've been to a couple of weddings where they did polka at the reception. I'd expect it in Pennsylvania, but this was in Virginia.

If fresh roses are available and a dark handsome tall gentleman is present, I do a mean Argentine tango and if I am short of cash, I incorporate a pole in my dance. Ok, I apologize for being a smart butt.

I am really not a dancer although I did take country dance lessons back in the day and could two-step with the best of cowboys and my favorite was the Montana two-step over the Texas-style. I could waltz ok and did the waltz pretty much all over Texas, although I don't think any of the "cowboys" were "lost in my charms." Now line dancing was fun for exercise and I loved the outfits that were acceptable to wear. Way short jean shorts and shorty heeled cowgirl boots and those plaid flannel long sleeve crop tops that we tied in the front. I never understood the long sleeves since our legs were showing clear up to the wazoo and our midsection was on full display and usually, a lot of cleavage was showing for girls that had such, but that wasn't my claim to fame. The long sleeve boob revealing crop top made me feel like a commie for exercising my right to bare legs, but cowering when it came to my right to bare arms.

About the only dancing, I do these days besides my war dance with the Yellow Jackets, whom I am proud to say are now sucking hind teat, is some basic flamenco in the style of the Gypsies. Seriously I do a few steps of Bulerias as it keeps my hips active and helps with my lower back problems. Around Pow Wow time I brush up on a couple of tribal dances, that I have done with my Lakota friends in the past. They look easy but they aren't.

Any dance that requires I make a 360 degree turn just once is out unless it is at a barf o rama soiree.

LOL Faye I'm sure you still have it in you to still dance some.
For me its like taking a trip without leaving th darm so to speak. I just lost in the music and dance. On my Jackie Wilson spins hubby says " you need to slow down before you throw yourself to the floor or worse. So I don't do those often now.

Disco! You can write your own choreography.
I just watched the movie "POMS" on netflix. What a hoot for old people. I'll have to look for some.
It is not quite disco music but it is fun.
Never paid attention to netflix much till lately.
