You never know what the day is going to bring, especially when you're up there in years. After a nap today I bent over to put my shoes on I got a sharp pain in and around my left eye. The area around my eye appears swollen to my wife, we checked my blood pressure it was higher than normal, and heart rate was low.
After an hour of continuous checking the readings didn't change, I was still feeling a minor pain if I bent over or smiled, so my wife and daughter called emergency.
Hospital is going to check to see if I had a TIA a mini stroke. I will be in the hospital at least overnight.
Because of my bad back I cannot get comfortable in the bed. So Far I've gotten Tylenol we'll have a CAT scan hopefully soon.
With covid-19 on the increase I told my family no visits.

I am sorry you're having to go through that, and pray it will be something minor. I'm thinking that would probably be a retinal TIA, as opposed to a cerebral TIA, which is, I suppose, a little better. A transient ischemic attack (TIA) won't affect your life so much, except that it should serve to warn that you are in danger of a cerebral vascular accident (CVA), which is just another way of saying stroke.

Sorry I couldn't respond more before, keeping me busy with blood test, EKG and a chest x-ray. I was tested a few years ago and I have Factor V Leiden, which might factor into this. They just took more blood, they needed 1 more vial. Thanks for the info.

I hope for a good outcome, Tony. Are you posting from the hospital?

I had a TIA in January of 2020. It was a minor event. I went to the hospital and let them keep me overnight. No underlying cause was found (I don't smoke, my blood pressure's low, I don't have A-FIB, my arteries are clean, etc.) My only risk factor is my age.

I gotta tell you my emergency room story. The ER doctor gave me a CT scan and then the cognitive test ("What do you see going on in this picture?") Of course, I had to be a smart-mouth, joking with the guy. He called me back after the CT scan results came back and said "I lost the bet...you DO have a brain!" To which I replied: "I heard this about you guys. I've only been here an hour and you've already mixed up my records with someone else!"

I wonder if they'll put you on a portable heart monitor for a month to test for A-FIB as they did me.

Still waiting for the CAT scan results, they want me to stay overnight so I can have an MRI tomorrow.
My other tests EKGs, blood, x-ray are good.
This place is like Grand Central Station people running on all directions.
The last time I was in the hospital the nurse or attendant ask me how tall I was I told her 6ft 2in, a little while later when I had to get out from under the covers she saw I was five foot six boy was she pissed.
Going to have to run my phone is almost out of charge it's so busy here my bed actually in an aisle.

The longer I know you, the more I like you. ;)
You needed to yell in a squeaky voice: "What have you done to me???" I bet you considered it.

I saw a cardiologist after the dust settled, and the one thing he did that was not done in the hospital was to check for a hole in my heart. The hospital did an echo-cardiogram, but a hole does not show up without them doing an "agitated saline solution" test. It's a very rare thing that can cause a stroke, and you have to do this specific test to look for it. Just thought I'd throw that out there, since you're in the garage with the hood up...

I brought one of those external charges with me and the nurse was kind enough to bring it over to a charging station I got a little bit more of a boost to my phone.
A PA just told me they going to do an MRI on my neck also. About an hour ago they hook me up to a heart monitor.
I'm glad they're running all these tests at least now if they find nothing my mind will be at ease. They are going to give me painkillers and muscle relaxants so I can lay down and take the MRI without my back becoming unbearable.
The only negative thing I see about this whole process is I have to take my glasses off now they know I'm Superman.haha
