Yeh, my minor symptoms had subsided before I reached the emergency room, but I decided to let them incarcerate me overnight for that very reason you cited, Tony. They did an MRI on my brain to look for "footprints" of the stroke, and a Doppler screening on the arteries in my neck to check the rate of blood flow (I had already paid out-of-pocket for a vascular screening earlier that summer for my own knowledge, but the Doppler one is different.) Regarding your cover being blown...it was already kind of obvious, since there aren't even any lenses in your frames. Apparently, Superman is distracted by glare. So that's two things you can be defeated with: kryptonite and florescent lighting. Sounds like The Man of Squeal to me.
Tony at least you won't need a physical for a while now after all these tests and procedures. Take care .
Yeah it seems like I'm running same test you had they did the Doppler last night on my neck. Had a visit of three doctors just a short while ago I explained that my left eye feels a little pressure today. I also remembered that I had Graves disease about 15 years ago and that affects the eyes so I told the doctors about it. They're going to run the MRIs today they want to see if there's any pressure caused by the tumor I have on the pituitary gland it's benign, I used to have it checked every year I stopped it After 4 years of MRIS there was no growth so I stopped going for MRIS. I wish I could say I feel positive cuz I don't feel like there's something going on I hope I'm wrong. They gave me muscle relaxant, a patch for pain, and some anti-inflammatory drug. I'm supposed to get some additional painkillers so I can lay down to take the MRI. They just drew more blood, I gotta feeling their checking my thyroid. This is boring. My mind is not sharp I believe from all the drugs given me.
Just finished taking the mri it took about an hour. So I can handle the testing I was drugged using the IV. It was supposed to be some kind of a pain killer anti-anxiety medicine anyway whatever it is I can't even stand twice I had 2 catch myself from crashing to the ground. I haven't felt this high since I drank a pint of Kentucky Gentleman straight. I get giddy when I'm feeling good I just went to an aid to .asked her to push my bed around the floor with me in it, I asked a second aid to join me on the bed. They said no but had a good laugh then went about their business. I'm hoping I'm going to be released tonight I hope it's soon. I'm going to sleep tonight, can't keep my eyes open.
An hour long MRI is quite the ordeal. That takes some Zen. I hope they parole you soon, buddy. As I recall, I hit the ER at 1PM on a Sunday and was finally released 4PM Monday. The hospital is no place for sick people. I ran into a conflict in the hospital between the doctor on the floor who was working my case and a nurse from cardiology. The doctor told me he was gonna put me on a portable heart monitor for a month to test for A-FIB. (This was a small unit with a self-adhesive backing that sticks right above your heart and communicates with a dedicated cellphone) So after 2 hours of just sitting, the cardio nurse shows up, sticks the thing on me and says "You'll be wearing this for 2 weeks." I said "The doctor wanted me to wear it for a month." She replies (with attitude), "No, it's just for 2 weeks." She left, and I heard the doctor's voice in the room next to mine. I loitered in the hall, accosted him when he came out, and told him what the nurse said. Miffed, he kinda snapped at me "No, I said 30 days!" I could tell I had stepped into something between the two of them. I asked him to please follow up just to make sure. So I go home and I'm livin' the life with the thing stuck to me, and 2 weeks into it the alarm on the cellphone goes off (at 3AM, no less) saying "Your subscription is up. Return the unit." *sigh* The next morning I call the doctor's office and explain the whole thing, asking to have the subscription extended for the remainder of the month. His nurse calls back and told me "The doctor said that two weeks is fine." idiots I later get referred to a cardiologist who tells me that he needs 30 days worth of heart data, and he hooked me up with a big old 4 lead unit on a pendant that hung around my neck with wires going all over the place, starting the 30 day clock all over. I had to go buy surgical tape and some wrap so I could tape everything down in order to sleep at night. They found nothing. The cardiologist said I have some vegetative growth on my aortic valve (not an uncommon thing) that MIGHT have had bits break off of it, but it was unlikely. In fact, he said he wasn't certain it was really a stroke and not some neurological event. The only thing that's been done is to double my Lipitor dosage. I had been taking it anyway, and they prescribe Lipitor to some stroke patients because it stops your platelets from sticking together...but only at high doses (40mg.) ps: I hope you're reading this from home and not on your phone. Now you're really gonna need those glasses
Just seeing this. Wow, @Tony Page what a scare, though retaining your sense of humor is a good sign. I hope you get a definitive answer about what's happened, and some way to prevent it from happening again. May you soon be home and back to your usual routines.
Get to feeling better soon. I had that eye pain when bending down and they couldn't find anything. Since I have a damaged trigeminal nerve they said it was probably connected to that. It turned out to be glaucoma years later and now I am in danger of losing sight in that eye. I once thought that an hour-long MRI was the limit then the last one I had was of the brain and neck, with and without dye, was 2 1/2 hours with one 10-minute bathroom break. The only way I made it was by hypnotizing myself. If they find nothing, go see a medical doctor that specializes in eye diseases, not selling glasses.
I will be setting up an appointment with an few different doctors including eye. Feeling out of it this morning don't know if it's from the drugs they gave me, or the TIA. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.
So they determined that you did have a TIA, Tony? It's probably the drugs making you feel weird; hopefully that will resolve itself soon. Glad you're back home now.
It was a TIA at least that's what the release paper say. Just feeling extremely tired today my mind feels like it's in a clamp, I'm hoping it's just the meds wearing off. Along with the muscle relaxants they gave me medicine to withstand the MRI, I couldn't even walk my legs would just collapse. I don't feel 100% back with my normal strength. Going to take a nap now I'll see how I feel when I get up. Thanks
