A simple yes or no answer is efficient enough for this topic- well we can try at least.:D

Do you think people should post an actual picture of themselves in the profile ? (1)
Would actually seeing the person tend to make you more comfortable ? (2)
Would you like to see in profile where they live ? (Only state or country) (3) I notice some people do not list where they reside.
Do you scroll through all old threads before starting a new one ? (4)
Do you wish you could get a quicker response to your post ? (5) such as, along same line as Messenger

This is all I can think of for now. Seriously, keep it simple, its not a debate. ;)

    4. Yes. I only start new threads now, if there is no chance (imo) it could be merged with another.
    5. No. I feel lucky to get any response.

    1. People should be able to post whatever picture they want in their profile, and change it as they please.
    2. It does not make any difference to me, as long as the avatar is not empty/no picture. I hate that, and it makes me feel like the person does not want to be part of the forum.
3.I do like to see where someone lives because it often helps me to understand what weather, gardening, or other influences they have where they are living.
4.I don’t scroll through threads, but I do use the search function and look for corresponding threads to add my post to.
    5. If the post/thread is an interesting topic, and has more than just a sentence or two, I think that it usually gets answered faster; but not everyone thinks the same topic is interesting. Some topics are just worn out from arguing, and I try to avoid those, too.

    4. Only if it's a general topic and nothing about my life I'm talking about.
    5. Sometimes, when I'm in a needy mood.

Regarding actual pics, real names, accurate locations: You do realize that this is the World Wide internet. I could be an 18 year old female scammer living in Sri Lanka (or up the road from you)--trolling for well-off elderly targets--and you would have no idea, no matter what I told you my name and location are.

And without meaning to violate your "No Debate" request, this is the type of forum where the most vulnerable population gathers. These are the places those with ill intent are likely to troll. I've pointed this out before. Data gleaned from social media sites have been used to scam lots of folks out of lots of money...and bad guys don't even have to work hard to get it. I've already compromised my better judgement by the specificity I've used in some posts, but this is what happens over time...you get comfortable. It's that degree of comfort that might be why you're raising this issue...we kinda know each other but there's still a personal barrier. In a perfect world, I'd be on your side.

I guess you could try to "require" that folks use their real names and locations (or birthdays), but it would be a horrible mistake for anyone to actually do it.

Maybe fewer surveys would be nice. Just let members do their thing?

    1. Yes, but it doesn't have to be an up-close face photo. It could be of their back working in the garden.

    5. No
    6. Yes, I would like to see their REAL age! Why would anyone on a seniors forum not want to share their age?

    1. Don’t care.
    2. Don’t know.
    3. Sure.
    4. Nope, I use the search option.
    5. I care more about the views than I do about the replies.
As far as getting those replies, I’d rather most folks take their time and think things over. One well thought out reply is much more valuable to me than a bunch of knee jerk reactions that even the search engines try to sweep under the rug.

On the other Senior forum, I use to be in, one of the members posted a picture of themselves taken some 15 years ago. It wasn't until I told the person, "boy do you look young for being a Senior" that they told me "sorry, the only picture I've got of myself is from 15 years ago."

I guess my other post did not take. I am not posting my feelings on the subject. I merely asked questions in order to see if anyone had a preference for certain things. Why does it seem some of you are upset that I even asked theses question?
The forum is good for me as is - so none of the questions are complaints.

I just think that this thread would be better posted in the "Forum Administration & Notes" Section, along with "What do Forums Need".

1- not if it makes them uncomfortable
2- no. They could pick a picture of anybody from the Internet and say it is them.
    3. yes. General area, at least.
    4- no
    5- NA
6- Because it's none of their business.

    1. No. Some people would be uncomfortable with that.
    2. No. I'm not uncomfortable as it is, but it would be nice to have actual photos.
    3. Yes. But again, some people would be uncomfortable with that.
    4. Yes. I try searching first, but I will often scroll.
    5. No. I prefer forums to chat rooms.
