Before COVID hit, I had a few animal auctions on my list to attend, just for something to do. I don't know if they're back in full swing yet. At least one of them has an auction of miscellaneous critters at then end (after the main horse & cattle livestock auctions.) I gotta think there's the occasional mule/donkey/jackass among them. I looked up Mule & Donkey Shows, and found the NASMDA (North American Saddle Mule and Donkey Association.) The American Mule Association did a few shows last year in California and Oregon. I did find a Draft Horse, Mule & Donkey Show as part of a country fair this Saturday in the southwest part of my state...about 2 hours drive. Hmmmm...
My last donk was registered with hone of those I still have the certificate in out files. We were going to raise guard donks but life got in the way. We sold the our jack and found a good home for out jenny Rosie .
I gotta tell you, every time you type "donk" I think of Crocodile Dundee: It never occurred to me what that name might mean.
The internet data on his early childhood is sparse, by his choice. No one even knows if he has siblings: -Born in England -Professional wrestler (don't mind the oxymoron) -Went to Australia in his teens to wrestle from 1973 and 1978, which puts him in his mid-60s -Has appeared in over 40 feature films and dozens of TV commercials -Is in semi-retirement and running his gym at Coogee in Sydney, Australia
We don't have equine auctions here anymore since the law of no slaughter in the US went into effect (don't get me started!) But the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison Wisconsin has a short NASMDA segment including, most years, a jumping Mammoth Jack. the mule skinners are all interesting and willing to share info to attract more to their organization. We used to have donkey basketball and that was always a hoot!
