I never travel on holidays here, @Lon Tanner. It may be better now that there are fewer tourists, but Anchorageites are just about as bad as Californians, being rude and nasty people for the most part. Sorry if you are from California. I knew and met many fine people in California, but the ones who come here as tourists or transplants are generally nasty people.

Believe it or not, people that were born/raised here in Colorado, and there are a number of them, think the very same thing of all of the California people that have moved to Colorado. In 2007, as we were getting ready to leave Colorado, we really seen the influx of California license plates on the streets and freeways. Many Colorado people believe the changes that have happened to Colorado, and many not good changes, happened due to the California people that moved here.

You mean Lon, that you aren't going for a Hot Air Balloon ride? You said in your one thread that you wanted to someday.

Staying home. I had thought about driving over to one of the Atlantic coast beaches, but then realized it would be jammed, so nope. My longest trip will be the Publix, 3 miles away.

Being retired, I would not opt to travel on the same weekend the working world is also on the road, unless I had some specific event to attend. I've often waited until after this holiday to go to the beach, etc., since kids will be back in school (although at some point many counties in my state changed their schedules and now start classes in August.)

Very true! Up here in northern Colorado, Denver, the State Capital, is called "Colorado's version of Los Angeles". Then again, there are those Seniors that have lived in northern Colorado for many, many years and they would tell anyone how much it's changed up here.........and not for the good. It's not only the So. California young folks, that have moved here to Colorado, it's also the young folks that didn't move here that want the area to look more like Denver as well as themselves. Many like the way young folks look in Denver. Multiple tattoos, different colors in their hair and so on and so on. Just like Denver and Los Angeles.

Ok, but what do some folks think of the area you live in. Is it still "traditional" or have the young folks changed it?

It is kind of a mix here, mostly traditional I'd say.Lots of Trump signs and little churches around here so I'd say leaning more to tradition.

Young folks are going to change every place, just as when we were "young folks." Change is constant and soon we'll be gone, so learn to roll with it.

And back on topic, no, I am not traveling this weekend.

Very true, Beth, about change. Although, sometimes it can be very hard to deal with it. Most Seniors don't like change.........just ask my wife. LOL

The barber I'm going to have to go back to using, looks more like Ozzy Osborne, than a barber. He cuts my hair nicely, as long as I don't have to look at him! Nice guy to talk to as well.
