Udemy is having another one of their periodic sales on online courses. There are plenty for $11.99 now through Jan. 21. I've had good luck with the web development courses I've taken.

The two online courses that I took in Purchasing and Inventory Management in 2005, were nice, but a company would rather see a Certificate from APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society). We spent around $125 for each course. My last Supervisor/Director was both a CPM and a CPIM. Both certifications he got from APICS and the company worked for help pay for the classes. He was pretty impressed that I knew what both CPM and CPIM stood for, when he interviewed me for the Materials Coordinator job. BTW, CPM is Certified Purchasing Manager and CPIM is Certified Production and Inventory Management.

Other than my two online classes, I got all of my training on the job............way back when, that was called OJT.

I've looked at the Udemy courses and agree that it sounds like a good idea, particularly if the objective is to learn something rather than to have a piece of paper for your wall.

Interesting that you're allowed to use this site to drive folks to your site. I thought that was a no no.

Suggestion: Check with your county or city public library. In my county (U of Florida, and two year state college) the county library provides access to scholarly journals around the world, as do the libraries of the college and university. I also discovered that our library also provides online courses of several of the world's languages, which I used to upgrade my 50 year old college Russian and to learn enough Norwegian to read the billboards and newspaper headlines. I also noted that math and history classes are available.

The online courses are good to have for those in the study mood .It gives them something else to do to help with boredom.

FYI, I have dealt with that months ago. I didn't remove this thread because, quite frankly, it seemed to be about Udemy, which I am familiar with, and I didn't give it a lot of thought. You are right, though. While there are exceptions, such as if someone had a site of their own that dealt very well with a topic already under discussion, it might be okay to do that. Otherwise, we have a subsection for posting links to your own sites.

@Gil Arnold your avatar and name I have never seen until today. Nice photo, and you look a lot like a guy on channel 13 to me.
