Growing up, we had a cat in the neighborhood that was real mean. He'd fight dogs and win and eventually drove all the stray dogs out of the neighborhood. I speculate now that he had had some sort of special forces training. It was amazing to watch him fight a dog. He was too quick for the dog to bite him. He'd stand on his hind legs and go after the dog's nose with his front claws, which were a blur. When the dog whimpered and turned around to run the cat would actually chase him.
My ex picked out that cat. The cat was my buddy and hated her guts. The cat would be on my chest in bed and growl at her. I still laugh when I think of it.
It is not entirely unheard of, although I love that video. I have a barn cat who likes me (not many others). A renter had a pit bull who was very nice but one day was out loose. The dog came towards me to say hi and my cat came from nowhere and went at the poor dog's face. Dog left. Cat came and sat on my feet. I like most animals. I have the cat, chickens, cow, sheep, rabbits, dog.....most are pets of one type or another.
It is si hard to go to animal shelter and all of them looking at you like'take me'. Thats where we got our dogs and cats or at vet or somebodys dog or cat had puppies and kittens. best dog I ever had was a greyhoud left because a yellow lab jumped fence got with greyhound. She was the smartest dog I've ever had and I've had some smart ones. She was large 76lb.s but lived to be 19. Greyhounds are known to live long lives.
I was thinking of getting a shelter dog - one that no one else wanted. Then these two strays came into my life. With Barney that makes three and that's enough for me to deal with. Grayman likes to sit on my sawhorses. He doesn't mind when I use power tools. I think he's obsessed with being cool.
