How could you do if the crap hit the fan I know that most would not do too well. I think hubby could if he had to; ain't much he can't fix, hunt, grow or repair. He was always a country boy like the song says. Now he does not hunt or want to but could if he had to. He is an animal lover so much so the kids joke when they die they want to come back as one of Papa's animals.
Not us, at least anymore. For many years, I was basically a prepper, and stocked up for whatever might come in the way of hard times. Since my first husband only worked erratically, and was usually out of work in the winter, stocking up when I could was pretty necessary regardless of what was happening in the rest of the world. I have lived without power and water, cooked over a wood stove and a campfire, shot and killed and dressed meat to eat, and know how to milk a goat or a cow. Now, my body would not let me do any of it, and my mind doesn’t even want to try. We live next to Redstone Arsenal, so if we get in a war, we are at one of the main targets, and Bobby and I figured that one bomb would end us having to worry about survival in hard times.
Yvonne we ain't what we use to be either,so trying to teach the one daughter is interested how to but she lives about 400 miles away. She does stock up on some things and they are looking for large piece of propert but so far no luck. I hope you can teach those around you ,you sound like a wise lady full of knowledge.. Plus we raised them all so they do know how to work hard and make do to a certain extent.None of them has ever hunted or cleaned wild meat.Butshe has leaened to grow some.
The key would probably to be part of a community or group of friends who share the concept and have various skills. It also depends on how things would go down. China or Russia, or Iran for that matter, could take our entire grid down. I have read that the reason Iran wants a nuclear bomb was to generate an EMP large enough to destroy or technology. We are seeing the results of a mild bioweapon, but much larger, more virulent weapons exist. You can prepare for some things but not others.
Yea me too but if that happend it would be the cities empting into the rural areas you'd have to worry about,plus whoever else didn't prepare,So we don't stock up much for whoever might kill us to enjoy.. Our forest is a thugs paradise,so many trees to hide behind. I wanted a tower but then who is able to climb it now,have ot have an elevater.They wouldn't have to kill us we'd kill ourselves climbing the tower,but we do have lots of VINES to swing out on.
I suspect if it ever does happen, @Lon Tanner you will be screwed.... No food, no power (air conditioning, heat) just as most of those dwelling in the cities will be. Hopefully it will be a slow process.
Too bad we don't have our own place to escape to like the dictating war mongers and anti American's do.
No time to prepare? No electricity? I'd have to live on boiled fish and water. Could chop wood, but no wood stove. Hmmm... I think I'll order one from Amazon ...
You can make one if you had soem fire bricks. If no wood stove see if a Coleman propane stove is out there.Wehave had oen for decades and it works fine.
