Sitting out on my balcony watching the birds and squirrels and leaves falling.

The sun is shinning, the birds are singing, the grass is grassing, just a wonderful perfect day.

I wake up to the sounds of hawks screeching and pileated woodpeckers chattering. In fact, I just had my binoculars out looking at a pileated woodpecker in my back yard. It was high in a tree just a few feet from what appeared to be a flicker.

We heard the squawking of sand cranes this morning as they flew overhead during our coffee time, they remind me of storks. Needless to say they did not drop any bundles of joy at our house….

Nothing particularly great outside this morning, but in a couple of weeks, we will see snowflakes flying. A lot of Seniors live here in Colorado, just like our member from Alaska and Ken in Maine.

I worked in an office park that had blue heron occupying the runoff ponds.
There is something surrealistic--almost Jurassic--seeing birds of that size in flight.

The company I worked for sent us to LA in March when we were buried in snow in PA. I remember sitting on the hotel balcony and looking at green grass and hearing birds chirping with 2 feet of snow at home.

Cool crisp morning after night of rain. Going to be cooler here for a few days. Does not seem like December at all.

I ended up falling asleep in a chair at about 7:00 am and sleeping for a few hours longer.

Good morning, boys, girls, and others. Fridays are my day to staff Pir2Peer Recovery Community Center so, while I will be in and out, I probably won't be here on a regular basis until after 5:00.

So is the place busy? I saw the list of meetings. Do you get a volume of casual visitors and phone inquiries?

I've mentioned before that when I quit drinking in 1990 (and for many years thereafter), I spent a ton of time at a place in Falls Church called The Unity Club. It used to be pretty low-key when it first opened up...nothing more than a place for six or so Twelve Step meetings of all flavors to be held concurrently any time of the day or night. I just went on their website to get the link, and it seems to have changed. I guess the growth and real estate costs of the DC area have necessitated developing a business aspect to it.
