I got mine yesterday morning after making an appointment over the phone. It was much like the first two shots only instead of driving to the location in the snow and in the dark, it was sunny and much warmer. My health care system had it running like a well oiled machine. You come in at your scheduled time; check in, and you are directed to an available worker (there were about ½ dozen) and badda-boom, badda-bing, I was in and out in less than ten minutes.
My wife got hers this past Saturday and, comparing to the first shot, it was extremely fast. Nice thing is, we didn't have to drive some 25 miles to get it, like we did with her first two. She got hers in the morning, but was still somewhat ill the following day (Sunday). Had a mild fever of 100.8, but with a 200mg Motrin, cut that down to 98.6. When she got the Booster, the person giving it told her that she could have the some reaction, like she did to the second shot, but not nearly as bad. As of this posting, she is doing fine. I will get my Booster, at the same hospital, the 26th in the evening. She will take me. Had absolutely no problem with my first Moderna shot, but the second one gave me somewhat of a nightmare. But, was able to get up the next AM and make my breakfast. Now we are getting ready for our Senior High Does Flu Shot (Fluzone) that we get every year at Walmart. Have to be covered as much as possible for our Las Vegas trip in December. My wife's older sister says she's not going to get either the Booster or the High Dose shots. Well, that's entirely up to her. Going to Las Vegas without the Booster or High Dose doesn't bother her at all.
Your wife must have had the Pfizer original and booster since the Moderna hasn't been approved or released yet as a 3rd dose. Since it hasn't been approved and they don't know when it will be, how can they schedule you for the 26th since you had the Moderna? All the booster is, is a half dose of the same vaccine and so far all those that have been studied that received the Moderna show no dissipation in strength. Many scientists are asking the Feds to hold off approving the 3rd in Moderna as it would be a waste of vaccine and might cause side effects in many. Pfizer showed weakness after 6 months. The different vaccines cannot be mixed. The thing to remember is the vaccine only helps the receiver at best and no one else. I had my Fluzone weeks ago as soon as my pharmacy received it. Moderna is considering mixing the Fluzone in with the 3rd dose if they can get approval soon.
Ok, here is what online says: "The FDA now allows for a single booster dose of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine to be administered to individuals at least 6 months after their initial two shots for those who are 65 years and older." This is why I'm scheduled at the same hospital my wife got her Pfizer booster last Saturday, for my Moderna booster on the 26th. My Moderna booster will be 1/2 dose of my original two Moderna vaccines, but I read online that the Pfizer booster is full-strength like the originals were. My wife had some, and note the word "some" side affect from the Pfizer booster, but not nearly as much side affect as she did with her second Pfizer Covid 19 shot.
The CDC is gonna update the definition of "Fully Vaccinated" to be "Current On All Boosters." They've not revised the definition already because not everyone is yet eligible for a booster. Link So as I mentioned to @Hedi Mitchell in another thread, if there are activities or destinations in your life that require you to be "Fully Vaccinated," the decision regarding boosters will be taken out of your hands. And the government continues to avoid accountability for any negative side effects because soon you will not be "fully vaccinated" if you've only had 9 jabs and they are up to Jab 11, just as they currently dodge accountability for bad reactions because you are not technically "vaccinated" until 14 days after the shot.
Just got mine this morning at the health dept. Pfizer, 8 months out. Only one other person waiting. Didn't even feel the shot this time. He even asked me, "Did you feel it?" "Not really. How did you do that? " "I'm Good!" (smarty pants ) .
I didn't feel a thing, when a nurse gave me my Booster. In fact, each time I go to local VA Clinic for Blood Labs, I don't feel a thing when he draws it. I told him, "your excellent at this". I love giving a compliment to someone who is doing a great job.
Yup, had all three of the shots at Walmart, this time as a walk-in! Didn't feel any of the jabs, and had only half the reaction as to the second Moderna, which was appreciated. Held a compass up to the injection site, and it didn't budge! (-:
