    The Falkirk Wheel
    Falkirk Scotland

It works, regardless of the weight of the boats floating in each of the two gondolas (including none at all), as long as the water levels are kept the same.

@Nancy Hart The funicular railway was destroyed in the 1944 eruption and never rebuilt

The Great Falls Portage is the route taken by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805 to portage around the Great Falls of the Missouri River during the outbound portion of the expedition. The 18-mile portage took 31 day. The Great Falls Portage is a National Historic Landmark and ideal for history buffs, families, tours, and anyone who wants to experience the land as the Corps of Discovery saw it.

@Marie Mallery The picture caption reads "Herring market in Skanör in 1400. Skanör is a small town in the far south of Sweden. Most houses in Sweden are still built with a timber frame and the outside is very often panelled with what I think you call shiplap in the USA or a combination of shiplap and brick
