Lon Tanner Has Passed Away

R.I.P. Lon. Thank you Yvonne, for the closure.

 

That makes me so sad. He was a nice man.

@Yvonne Smith , please let his daughter and family know that we enjoyed Lon's company through the years and we will miss him.

 

Sad news. He seemed eager to connect with others on this forum which gave him comfort I hope.

Sad news about Lon I thought he was reasonably well ( I was not aware he’d contracted Covid ) and had only recently got himself a dear furry
( cat) companion

This news hurts more than I can say. Lon and I sparred mercilessly on that OTHER senior forum long ago, but never here. Peace comes at a price, always......

After I joined this forum in 2019, Lon wanted to swap emails so I obliged him. Although he had family that visited frequently, it seems he became lonely living at Oakmont. He said he never had trouble with loneliness before assisted living. He could never understand why I wasn't lonely and bored since I lived alone for 50 years. I couldn't understand why he felt lonely when he had family and one that visited often.

I tried to discourage him from getting a cat for company. I might as well have been a corpse in the morgue. He said he never felt lonely talking to dead bodies during his mortician days but did in assisted living.

We discussed his skin cancer and also chronic nerve pain which is about the only thing we had in common. His emails were much like his posts here on SOC, one-liners, and void of the content that would lead to informative discussion.

I asked him if my sarcastic replies to some of his recycled questions bothered him and he said he liked it when Beth and I answered his one-line interrogation threads with wit and scathing sarcasm. He loved the female attention.

I will miss Lon's threads.

 

It’s been said many times in many places that we should be kind to one another and it is Lon’s passing that brings this thought to mind. You can reach your own conclusion.

 

RIP Lon.
Your "ever enquiring " posts will be missed, especially when there was a "lull" moment on the forum, you made sure to post something different everyday.

 

I'm sorry to hear about Lon's passing. Will miss his presence here.

 

I will miss having "dust ups" with Lon; he was a worthy adversary and loved to stir the pot with a big spoon. RIP, Mr. Tanner. I hope they have a good chef and excellent wine wherever you are now.
