    Nope it's not a tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival, it's a what do I see when I'm lookin' out my backdoor thread. Well with my eyesight I don't see an awful lot actually but this is what you would see. A mix of summer and fall pictures.

    Very nice. I didn't expect to see the US flag be represented in what I took to be a sun room. I'm guessing it was late evening with the long shadows.

    The American flag in the sun room was part of a package of scatter cushions, plaids and cloths we bought commemorating the Swedish American Line. The Gripsholm was one of the vessels that made up the fleet. A sister ship was the M/S Stockholm famous for being in a collision with the Andrea Doria off the Nantucket coast on July 25th 1956 in thick fog. The Andrea Doria sank with the loss of 56 lives. The photos with the long shadows were taken mid afternoon during the fall.

    @Bibbi Wright

    On a rare rainy day, looking west towards the gate to our property. It is cut across in the left side of the picture by our arroyo, a 5-foot deep wash supporting the bulk of the desert plants.

    On a very rare day (only once every few years), winter rainfall is sufficient to awaken the thousands of Poppies awaiting such an event all over South Mountain. The display will last only a few weeks, then return to bleakness. Note my "winter" clothing!

    @Frank Sanoica

    It must be beautiful when that occurs. The wonders of nature never cease to amaze me: seeds and plants lying dormant for years and then briefly springing to life. I’ve read about it happening in different parts of the USA and Australia and would love to see the phenomenon of the desert in bloom but I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to witness it.

    We don’t have the large areas around our homes like many of our US members do ….from memory our block of land where our home is built is only about 800 sq mtrs so looking out my back door I see a verandah with blinds
