I save the things I post here, on Facebook, and other places where I put my writings. It's interesting to remember what I was thinking years ago. I suggest you do the same. You might see this argument differently 5 years from now. And yes, there have been climate disasters in the history of the earth. They were caused by volcanos, comets and such striking earth, etc. This time it's being caused by humans. Unfortunately, like the pandemic, racism, and such, it has become political.
What has been politicized by the left in recent decades, but not limited to: Sex, drugs, rock 'n roll, marriage, medicine, culture, crime, the courts, policing, the military, the weather/climate, energy, the entire education system, banking, sports, nicotine, alcohol, entertainment, the fashion industry, comedy, money printing, auto industry, social media and most of the internet, journalism, advertising, corporations, and probably a hundred other things I can't think of at the moment. It would be easier and shorter to list items that have NOT been politicized.
I agree Bruce, and the one that gets me is the "racism card". How often is that thrown in, and imo, usually by racists! In my lifetime, I've met very few racists, they are far out-numbered, again, imo, but boy can they stir the pot ;(
Nooooo....I like to discuss, ...yes, even argue, because I like to learn things, which I frequently do by discussing things with people who don't think like me.
Why is this little twip even worthy of discussion? She knows nothing about earth science and energy production. Zip! Zero! I can end this little parrot and puppet show with one question. "How do we get all the copper, aluminum, and other minerals it will take to make this utopia possible? All these big city polluters and their urban chickens need to visit mines that make these elements possible. Multiply their current environmental impact by at least 1000 times. Stand by one of those giant machines and track how much diesel they burn in an hour. Running this friendly machine on electricity would take a portable nuclear power plant on site. I wish Greta shit for brains would brush her teeth with Preparation H.
I agree with your whole post, just narrowed it down Faye. Look at maybe 50% of the news/videos we see everyday of people who to me, are not worthy of running a lemonade stand in front of their house. But there they are, being made famous by Mainstream media, or any of the news stations. News, or what they think most people want to watch, is big money. I admit I'm watching some of it, but I only watch some one, time only, once I know their an idiot. How often do we see good things happening in the world? I found some places on my SmartTV channels where you can see people helping people in 3rd world countries. I was so happy! And guess what, a day or two later I was right back watching all the bad news again. I can't figure me out, let alone anyone else PS Gotta mention AOC, virtual nobody in her dress that says "tax the rich"written in blood-red, while she becomes rich (that's my guess).
Couple quick questions: No way that the energy produced by the diesel could be replaced by an electric engine? Another thing that has bothered me for years: How much "these elements" have found their ways into the nation's landfills over the past century? Couldn't we do a better job of recycling?
IQ is the ability to think, analyze, and invent. Greta has NONE of those qualities. Her solutions are not based on reality or sound science. She doesn't understand cause and effect nor that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. She is a total embarrassment to sound environmental science and nothing more than a parrot and puppet politician. She has no understanding of the cycle of life and basic earth science.
It would make no difference and also it takes more energy to recycle than mine. The unresolved problem is how do we produce all the electricity necessary to make an all-electric world? I love electricity, but no way to produce the multi-trillion megawatts necessary for such a world and mining or recycling using electricity is very inefficient. Solar and wind are very inefficient methods of producing electricity. The world doesn't have enough hydropower without causing devastation to unbelievable proportions. What I have been saying for years is if you measure the amount of electricity it would take to make all the mechanics and electronics necessary to produce electricity, it becomes impossible. Without fossil fuels, using all electricity, it would take twice as much electricity to get the materials, build, and maintain a power plant as it would produce. Wind turbines and solar equipment are made in China using vast amounts of electricity produced by nuclear power. How is this a win for the world? Furthermore, no one I mean no one has a viable idea of how to build an electric jet. The only solution is we ALL (including leaders) go back to living like primitive people and people dying of old age in their 40s. Fewer people equals less buffalo dung necessary to make fire.
Since around 1750, the start of the industrial revolution, there is no doubt that the earth has warmed and as a matter of fact the general consensus is that it’s warmed a whole 1.8 degrees fahrenheit (1 degree celsius) . Before then it’s only speculation and nothing more. There is also no doubt that we, as stewards of this world, need to be more attentive toward using our energy sources wisely and hopefully even invent better and cleaner energy sources. All that said, Greta is nothing more than a cash cow who has rehearsed her lines much the same as a young girl selling cookies door to door with the main difference being that the girl selling cookies knows more about her product than Greta does. If perchance they would have thought about it when Greta speaks, they would put some tear jerker music in the background and pictures of some poor kid in Somalia on the big screen thereby having each and every spectator reaching into their pockets for a handkerchief and their wallets. Like Al Gore’s movie, it’s pure salesmanship and meant to enrich those with the loudest voices. After all, where do my tax dollars really go when it comes to climate change but into someone’s pocket? You can’t throw money into the air and expect it to change the earth’s temperature by one millionth of a degree nor will it change by putting it into someone else’s pocket.
I've listened to both sides of this @Bobby Cole and I'm glad you posted this (the part on global warming) because I feel like I don't use my whole brain, or the whole part that actually works when I read some posts, watch videos, or look at news. I have to admit that I'm not sold on the global-warming scare. I also much appreciated the rest of your post Sometimes people can sound so smart, so educated I'm just in awe. I forget to do my own research and decide for myself. Can't help thinking of the bible at times, I've read it many times, still nothing has ever made more sense to me.
