Today starts some of the NFR (National Rodeo Finals) events in Las Vegas, the main one right now, being the Miss Rodeo America Pagent. The actual rodeo starts on Thursday night, but not on regular tv or cable. This is a huge event in Las Vegas, but I'm sure there will be folks there, that don't know what's happening, that will say "why are there so many people here wearing cowboy hats and that?" Every major hotel/casino on the Strip is having multiple rodeo/western things happening inside. We actually bought our airline tickets last May (2021), and at the same time, reserved our rental car at Las Vegas McCarran Airport and our hotel room on the Strip. My wife is looking very forward to a Champagne Buffet Breakfast at MGM and a couple of other breakfast buffets at other hotels, including South Point. We will be taking plenty of pictures, with both our iPhones and digital camera, as well as video with iPhones and our small disc DVD Video Recorder. My wife's older sister is driving in from So California. Her son-in-law's sister will be with her. Neither of them are into rodeo like wife and I are, and my wife's older sister doesn't gamble or drink. It will be nice to see her though. Last time we were in Vegas was 2006, and yes, for the NFR rodeo.
With all the big-lit signs announcing the rodeo, I am guessing not too many will be wondering about all the cowboy hats. However should one wear sheepskin chaps, then that might raise a few eyebrows.
There are still those, on NFR Experience Facebook, who are continuing to complain that the NFR isn't in Arlington, TX and those, like us, that are extremely glad that it's back in Las Vegas. There are also those that are complaining about any mask wearing and those telling them "if you don't want to wear a mask, don't go! You won't be missed". But, this coming Thursday night, we will watch the first go-around and see just how "enforced" mask wearing will be at the Thomas-Mack Center. Wearing one is suppose to be fully enforced, but..........
Well, a few months ago, we bought, online from Pro-Rodeo.com, two cloth face masks that say Pro-Rodeo on each. Will wear each over our regular face masks while there............that is, if required and enforced. If not enforced, we won't wear a face mask that much. Will just have to wait and see how things are when we arrive in Vegas. Federal Regulations require a face mask at airport and on airlines, so will do that. Anyway, we didn't wear any when in Colorado Springs, for the Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame Induction this past July and we were both fine. Didn't wear any in Dodge City, Kansas when we were there for their rodeo. Again, fine. But, have had to wear them here in our County (Larimer). The virus is just flying around way too much here.
I hope you have purchased this mask @Cody Fousnaugh because mad cow disease is on the rampage in Las Vegas.
Naw, nothing that stupid looking! LOL Then again, if I was a dairy farmer, the mask would be totally appropriate. Oh yes!
Looked at my Cowboy Channel iPhone app and seen that the Cowboy Channel was televising from Las Vegas "live". So, off went the iPhone app and on went our tv/Roku. The Cowboy Channel was at the opening of Cowboy Christmas for the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. About 1/2 of the people weren't wearing masks, but local law enforcement was. Watched interviews with Reno Rosser, Joe Beaver and others. Then, the Pro-Rodeo Awards Ceremony started and watched that. Also, "live" helicopter shots of The Strip in Vegas. Tonight starts the "BIG show" and we will be watching. 10-days of top-notch professional rodeo, with World Champions getting their buckles/saddles at the end.
Oh we'll be there, but only for a few days. Right now, getting the "party fever" going. Buffet eating, rodeo, gambling, rodeo, drinking, rodeo, shopping and yes..........more rodeo.
Keep in mind that this is NOT a covid thread, it is about trail rides , rodeos, and other horse-related activities. There are a plethora of covid threads if people want to write more about that topic. (Off topic posts were moved to a covid thread.)
It seems covid threads go off-trail to rodeo and rodeo threads go off-trail to covid. I bet being a moderator before covid was a lot less work
