My WIN 8.1 periodically informs me if updates are available. When it wakes after inactivity, on the lower right of the dark blue screen I’m informed that some are ready to be installed. I allow it and walk away and let it have at it. I’m getting the latest and greatest security patches I assume and whatever. Go for it.
Windows 11 is a new OS version; not an update to an existing OS or patches. I have Win10 and I'm waiting to hear how many glitches people are having with 11 before I click on "install". As for general updates, I have mine set to automatic.
That's a lot of good information for anyone that wants to upgrade. I've looked into W-11 but I'm more inclined to go with a newer Desktop. I trimmed down my devices, and just want one to manage now, I live alone, and don't care to use anything but my Desktop, with comfy desk-chair Also have a good monitor and it is a Gaming Computer, but I think now 5 years old, I'd have to check. It's up to date on it's Windows 10. I'm glad for your post because I'll be sure too look at compatible printers, and wouldn't have thought of that. My old one fizzled out, so I need another
I have online friends at majorgeeks that are still running older versions. I might upgrade but it's more of a habit than a necessity unless as @Cody Fousnaugh mentioned, they stop giving support/updates I think he said. Windows 10 will keep going a long time I'm sure before that happens. I still haven't read what all the "new" changes are in Win 11 and I need to do that before I do anything
NOOOOOOO! I bought a CHROMEBOOK (Not a cloud) that wants me to sign in and stop using startpage and duckduckgo so they can follow me easier.
