It is a simple propaganda arm of the Democratic party here, and those who watch it are those who do not wish to think for themselves and are willing to accept what they are fed.

Having read the FactCheck account of this episode, and having examined the non-threatening angle of the gun in the photo, I'm baffled by the continuing outrage against Binger on the part of everyone here.

The Reddit post that started the uproar was taken out of context and fabricated into a false narrative for the sole purpose of igniting baseless outrage!

This is what social media is doing --- creating an alternate reality based on disinformation and lies. THAT is why certain videos and posts are taken down, not some dark plot to hide the Truth!

If the article that provides context via courtroom video and direct quotes from the trial transcript remains unconvincing to those here and elsewhere, it seems as though the obvious fact that the Judge allowed Binger to use the rifle in his closing remarks would clear Binger from any accusations of misconduct. And yet the cries for his head on a pike continue!

Why is everyone so fixated the peripheral and irrelevant presence of a CNN Tweeter in the courtroom that they totally ignore the behavior of the Reddit poster and others, who told obvious lies in order to arouse baseless outrage in their 'fan base'?

Nowhere in that video do I see Binger pointing the rifle at the jury!

This article provides vital context via court video and direct quotes from the trial transcript.

This is another clear case of social media agitators and FOX News 'commentators' whipping their fanbase into a frenzy for the sole purpose of creating chaos.

Thank you! That emoji very adorably expresses my own amazement and dismay at just about everything said on this thread so far.

Fact-checked by Newsweek? That's funny. The truth be told, though, there are no "fact-checkers" who are interested in facts. It's all one opinion versus another.

I don’t care if he pointed the derned thing at the ceiling!
He didn’t check the weapon himself and the very fact that he shouldered the weapon in a “ready to fire” stance at ANYTHING in a closed room is idiotic!

When I handle a weapon I personally check it for ammunition and even when I make sure it’s empty it’s always pointed downward. It’s just common sense which that lawyer has very little of.

And, as far as what or whom he pointed the weapon at is knowledge for those who were there whether it was in the video or not. All we can depend on are the words of the folks who saw what he did and given the rest of his demonstrations of idiocy I wouldn’t be surprised if it was found to be fact that he pointed it at a person or persons or even over the heads of people.

And yet the Newsweek Fact Check contains verifiable courtroom video and trial transcript material that gives context to those misleading Reddit posts and Fox News commentary.

What I find strange is that absolutely no one here has bothered to even look at the article or react to its actual, relevant content.

When someone here mentions a story or info they've read, I often go looking for that material to see it for myself.

When I find the site, or at least a site that contains the sought information, I check into the 'credentials' of the person who 'owns' the site, and the reputation of that person, and try to get a feel for the online consensus of that site's reliability.

It's a lot of work! Back in the days when David was fascinated by all things dark and conspiratorial, I'd look into topics in order to form my own opinion.

Of course I'd include mainstream sources in the research as a sort of 'baseline,' as well as a few alt-news sites like Information Clearing House that seemed pretty credible then, and maybe still would if I still felt like sifting through it.

I just find it really funny that I'm considered a bit nuts for reading AP. And as for this particular Newsweek Fact Check, the material is easily verifiable, and its tone strikes my experienced inner ear as non-manipulative and emotionally inert.

A fairly calm publication, and well aware that if it starts telling blatant lies, it will be called out by every every reputable journalist, liberal and conservative!

I don't understanding anyone automatically rejecting moderate and reputable mainstream news sources. It's impossible for every single person working in every single long-established news service to be in on some plot to deceive the 'sheep.'

Of course if it's a publication like RollingStone, you're going to find a willingness to mock and inflame the Right that's very similar in texture and tone to the Right's glee when it provokes and witnesses a few 'Liberal Tears.'

    Just saying!

If I believe AP over FOX News, it's because I think for myself, not because I'm a gullible sponge who just soaks up whatever spillage I'm dropped into.

And as my wife brought up, why on earth would they show a video with the jury in it? If the lawyer did indeed point it at the jury or anywhere near the jury it would have been omitted. As it is, one of the fears on the table is that the jurors names and addresses have been publicized.
The only people who know the truth are those who were in the courtroom….period.

I also do a lot of research and with that research I also know whom I cannot trust with things of public interest and the majority of the MSM does a good job of slanting the truth with CNN as the go to station for overall bias against anything not liberal.

I watched much of the trial live, including that part. I don't need left-wing (or right-wing) fact-checkers to tell me what I saw. I don't get my news from memes and Facebook posts. No, they didn't show the jury because they haven't been showing the jury, but he wasn't pointing it at the judge, he wasn't pointing it at the audience, and there would be no reason for him to point it anywhere else since he was clearly trying to make the jury frightened about having a gun pointed at them so that they would find against the kid with the gun. The defense attorney objected that he was pointing it the wrong way because he had pretended that he was demonstrating how the defendant pointed the gun. Pointing it the right way wasn't the objective, as the objective was to shock the jury.

    Oh, Ken!

Why is it that no matter what I say here, no matter how hard I try to make myself clear, and get through to someone for a moment, what I seem to hear in response is a chorus of people with their fingers in their ears going 'la la la la' like in that Jim Carrey movie, so hilarious! But also frustrating!

I don't really care about knowing exactly where Binger did or did not aim the gun. The nano-second of time he held the rifle aloft seems the exact opposite of threatening, more like a moment of awkwardness that he regrets in hindsight.

It was a nothing moment! And yet Reddit and FOX News blew it all up into something intended only to inflame baseless outrage. Doesn't anyone see anything wrong about that?

    Yes, research is good!

I've not really got an opinion on CNN, but will try to get past all the visual clutter on its site, and take a look.

Could that be because you're simply parroting leftist talking points? I watched more than half the trial live. I didn't turn to a partisan "news" source for my information or look for partisan "fact-checkers" to make my arguments for me. I don't think I have ever in my life even looked at REDDIT, and am not even sure what it is, and Fox News annoys me.
