I’m not too sure the guy is that crazy. Abnormal maybe but crazy, maybe not so much.

A Tom Hanks movie called “Castaway” came to mind after I gave some thought to the thread. In the movie, Hanks found a ball and after a bit, named it and had some major conversations with it all in the name of being lonely. In essence, he made friends with the ball which wasn’t seen as just a ball by him.

What I’m getting at is that practically all of us have felt ostracized and alone whether we genuinely are or not and in some cases that feeling doesn’t just go away.
I’m sure that there are people on this very forum who at one time or another felt as though everything they did was counted as wrong by someone close to them and all it would have taken to feel better is for someone to simply listen or maybe even give an “atta-boy” for something they did.

People do strange things just to fill in the need to be wanted and seen as a “somebody” as opposed to a nobody. I mean, some resort to getting a pet which are now called support pets / animals and others have bought manikins and still others are looking forward to the time when A.I. presents the world with human form robots.

Heck, I know crazy. I knew a guy in a rescue mission who would sit by himself on a bench and talk in a male voice and answer himself in a female voice. Her name was Shirley by the way and the guys name was John.
We’ve all heard of the people who have wanted to marry their computers and to me that’s really crazy because computers argue too much.

Like I wrote, I’m not sure if the guy in the OP is crazy or just finally getting the attention he’s been wanting and in need of.
Do I think it’s wrong? Dunno. I’ll ask SIRI.

Edit: I asked SIRI if she wanted to get married and she answered back: ‘Wise is the one with few wishes”. Good advice.

I couldn’t resist doing a little research but one company is reporting a 51% increase in sales of their “sex” dolls during the pandemic lock downs throughout the U.S. and Europe.

One psychiatrist said the “toys” are for more than just sex but a tool to beat loneliness for shut-ins, the handicapped and just because but even so, they’re expensive.
Female and yes, male inflatables can range from $50 to $3000.00 and up depending on the features someone wants so I guess if a person has a big back pocket and wants something better than a ball to talk or whatever to, an inflatable isn’t too crazy it seems.

Well, as they used to say on the car forums, "there's an ass for every seat." :p

    @Beth Gallagher

In my Ranchero Forum long ago, they called a loser "ass-hat"? I wonder what they meant by that?

I used to use that myself, Frank. :D I never attached any significance to it, kind of like calling someone a dip-shit or whatever. :p

    From Urban Dictionary:
    asshat
One who has their head up their ass. Thus wearing their ass as a hat. Asshat

The article did not say where those marriages took place.

    My first thought was Japan.

I once had someone tell me I was crazy to marry a hologram, but I later realized that they were just projecting.
