My phone has rung every 5 minutes from 6 AM to 6 PM starting yesterday and continuing this morning. I let it go on messages. It is always a different name or number.

"To speak with a customer service representative about your Amazon account disputed charge, press 1."

It seems the scams are increasing with a vengeance as the Holidays draw near. I am turning off my phone for the next few hours in hopes that the scammer's computer will stop and pick on someone else. Has anyone else noticed the increase in scam calls?

Not particularly. More trash in my emails but not phone calls. My rig’s extended warranty is still expired and my life insurance policy isn’t enough to bury me.

I was billed $399 by Amazon I was told. All I have to do is press some number to talk to a representative, give them my credit card number and they will fix it.

We have that "NoMoRobo" service on our landline, plus a new spam-call filtering service from Xfinity. (Yes, we still keep our landline. :D ) It works pretty well with only an occasional spam call getting through. We never answer the phone unless it's one of our kids or someone we know. One feature with Xfinity (Comcast) is that when the landline rings the caller info displays on our TV screens, making it easy to see who's calling without picking up the phone.

On our cellphones, we use the "silence unknown callers" thing. I never get nuisance calls on my cell.

I've got "NOMOROBO" on the land line with Spectrum and the phone info display on TV also. I've told all the family to call me on cell becuase the cell is always on me while the land line is only in another room.

I have the nomorobo on my Spectrum phone and I also have another spam call blocker hooked in the system. These crooks hijack others' names and numbers so I let all calls go to messages and pick up if I recognize the caller's voice. They even used my own number. To block them would be blocking important numbers. Spectrum must have blocked that computer because they stopped about noon.

My new iPhone silences suspect calls and may send some to Voice Mail (or they just get there on their own.) It works in conjunction with Verizon (and other carriers.) The phone feature is named "Silence Junk Callers."

The scummy thing about some of these people is the way they spoof phone numbers so as to seem to be calling locally. What is even worse is that I got my Cell Number from a different part of the state that has a different area code, yet the spam numbers are spoofed as though they are local to where I live now, and are not based on the phone number they are calling. THAT is frightening.
