I broke my small toe a few days ago after I dropped something heavy on it. I'm fairly certain that it's broken anyhow, as I haven't seen a doctor for it. Broken toes usually heal without difficulty and, having been a paramedic for twenty years, I know that after the x-rays and the doctor's visits, they'll just tape it to the next toe anyhow. So I am going to try that and see if I can save myself some trouble. If only I would quit bumping it on stuff, it wouldn't hurt so much.
Oh my! I hope it heals quickly for you, Ken. I'm sure that paramedic training will be very helpful... because you'd know at which point it would have to be looked at if it comes to that. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you! My daughter did that a few years ago with a heavy safe... lost the nail and has had issues with it ever since, but she didn't go to the doc either. It healed fine, it's just nail problems with it now.
@Joe Riley , you have a funny pic for everything! Since you're a paramedic Ken, I won't give you any advise. Hope it heals quickly.
Ken I know what it is like I have probably broken every toe at different times. I studied and taught Judo and in practice we were always breaking our toes taping them to one another and going back out to practice. Good luck
Take care and speedy toe recovery! I understand how it might feel for sometimes I stub my toe and it hurts, but you broke it so it's much, much more painful. Once I closed the heavy back door on my toe and it smarted for a week, though it wasn't broken it sure was painful. Take care!
Hope your toe's not too painful. I know it'll take a while to heal, but at least you know how to best treat it.
Not a broken toe, but I've had a very painful toe this past week. The toe next to my pinkie on the left foot. It was several days of misery. I love to go barefoot, so maybe a bug/spider bite...?? Who knows. Anyway, it was giving me fits until I thought to put mouth pain liquid gel on it. I've got Orajel and Kanka in the medicine cabinet, and thought what the heck! ... that really did the trick.
