Film noir meets Christmas in original ACT play They wrote two different scripts, one with more male characters and one with more females. In this version, the three “wisemen” characters are being played by women. They are all doctors with some form of Wisemen as their last name. "Take one part classic detective mystery, add in the Nativity story and an extra helping of Christmas magic, and the result is “Noel Noir.” "The play, written by Anacortes playwrights Billy Hendrix and Bruce Rolfe, opens Friday at Anacortes Community Theater for its premiere. The show aims to look like a film noir movie. The entire set is decorated in shades of black, white and gray, down to the costumes and small props". Tenth Avenue Angel (1948) Margaret O'Brien I like the movie because (a) the little girl's name is "Flavia" and I wish names like this (and "Iona") would get resurrected, and (b) she makes some reference to getting a Christmas wish if a cow kneels when the church bell rings (or something along those lines.) The word "schmaltzy" was coined for this one.
