We are suppose to go to our usual social ballroom dancing NYE however since our premier opened our “gates” to let the virus into our state ,our social life is just about non existent ( we had a blissful 5 months without one single infection now we have 6000 + )

Anyway I hope all our dear friends on SO have a happy safe New year

As we ponder the coming year, I cannot help but wonder what the next alarmist headlines hold for 2022. The so called shooting off of the proverbial mouth of our alleged journalists today generally eventuate into utter drivel after all is said and done. Meanwhile from the Administration in D.C. down to the lowliest of the low, chaos has reigned supreme and anger and hostility carries the day. So, with that in mind, does one really look forward to a New Year with a light heart and hope for a joyous 12 months ahead? I feel somewhat empty inside after the past 3 years and I wonder if I am spiritually bankrupt? Something I will definitely be meditating on this New Year's Eve. Peace, folks.

Geez Lois......I didn't know you were able to read minds at a distance. You've captured my thoughts to a tee.

@Lois Winters & @Al Amoling Jesus said in John 16:33 “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. Be of good cheer, because I have overcome the world.”

I have HIS peace most of the time....I seem to lose it whenever I'm out doing errands by myself.

This may be a bit different than other posts on this thread, but here it is.
I just checked, and I've been a member for a bit more than a year. I've enjoyed my membership very much; perhaps because my politics and opinions differ from most of the other members, whom I see as my friends.
For whatever it's worth, I hope all had a nice Christmas, as wife and I did. (We spent a week with our two sons and wives, and elder son's German exchange student on Florida's Atlantic coast.} I wish all a pleasant New Year's celebration, and a pleasant 2022.

Have a very Happy New Year, James. We all are individuals who think differently and react uniquely to life's little surprises. I really don't care what a person prefers politically or in a religious sense as long as that individual is civilized. In studying ancient history in school, I learned that our ancestors were not all very sweet and calm folks. Well, given the tenor of the times, no industry, technology, etc., it is no wonder. However, as we evolved over the millennia, I would have expected humans to have achieved a high level of character and grace. I am something of a WWII history buff, concentrating on the European aspect of that era, but not ignoring the Asian presence either. Humans were at their worst to say the least and coming from enlightened and educated people is downright disappointing to me. We end the war with much heart break on all sides and much relief. Fast forward to today, and we are warring over everything imaginable. Of course we haven't, on a large scale resorted to some of the despicable acts of the past, but, how long will this last? Why is it our students cannot seem to learn from history, or isn't it being taught in a true platform. Let them see the evil. Once in awhile a shock or two helps us to understand why we need to achieve that Happy New Year ahead. Don't leave us, I enjoy your posts as they are intelligent and thoughtful, even if I don't necessarily leave a comment.

Hang in there Al. I am in a reflective mood since I am entering the last year of my eighth decade on this earth.
