Got a tooth, 2nd Premolar, that is half gone now. Yesterday morning, it became very loose, but not loose enough for it to come out. Very little pain related with the tooth, but I did take a prescription 800mg ibuprofen that I also take for my shoulder pain. I'm really trying to eat on my right side. Today, NYE, the tooth is even looser, but just not loose enough to come out.

Have any of you extracted a tooth of yours at home?

Not since I was a kid. It involved a motorized erector set.

What does Google say about it?

It said to use the tongue and wiggle back and forth. A person can also use their finger to loosen it up more.

Actually, just a few minutes ago, I was able to twist the tooth, so very slightly, and it came out. Thank God! First of all, I didn't want it to come out while I was eating and swallow it. I tried eating, a couple of minutes prior to twisting the tooth, but I couldn't even eat. So, I decided "enough is enough" and twisted it out.

So..........that's it! End of thread. LOL

Area around where tooth came out is doing fine. As soon as it came out, I used salt-water in my mouth.

    No other loose teeth!

I learned the hard way to put a cloth between the tooth and a good set of pliers. Otherwise, the pliers will slip off and one wishes one was never born or for a .45 with one bullet in it.

When I was at head camp in Vietnam I had an abscessed molar. It was around 1800 hrs so the only thing I could do was to see the after hours medic and he gave me a bottle of clear liquid and some long swabs.

I was seriously speculating pulling the derned thing myself but I tried the liquid instead and yup, all the pain was gone. Matter of fact, my whole mouth was gone but alas, I had beer and as long as I could navigate the beer to my mouth and swallow it, all was good.
It was kinda like, swab the tooth, drink the beer and repeat…..and repeat…..and repeat.

But drinking beer has one side effect which is that one has to use the facilities quite often and by that point, the liquid I was using was all over my hands and fingers ergo it would follow that standing at the latrine that the pain killer was transferred to my pants, pants buttons and ya know, the defining point that makes me a male.
Everything was numb. The first time out it was hilarious because frankly, between the painkiller and several cans of beer, until I heard the pitter-patter of liquid hitting the barrel under the outhouse / latrine I wasn’t sure if I was going “spot on” or not.

Dunno what that stuff was, but until I had all my teeth pulled out, there were many times I wished I had another bottle of it especially when yes, years later I did pull my own tooth and yes, with a pair of pliers.

Bobby, there is a YouTube video of a man using pliers to pull a tooth with. The pliers ends were wrapped with cloth/tape. He got the tooth out, but part of the video also states "DON'T (in caps) use pliers!".

I just loosened the tooth with my tongue and finger/two fingers. Once I "ever so lightly" twisted the tooth with two fingers, it came out with very little blood. Immediately rinsed with saltwater and that was it.

Good thing I took that tooth out before YouTube or Google existed otherwise I might have hurt myself with those pliers.

The most dangerous thing about dealing with an abscessed tooth is the fact that it’s abscessed or rather, highly infected.
Once the infection spreads it can honestly kill a person but thanks to Listerine after the deed and a few shots of Old Grandad before the deed, I survived.
