I can assure you that you both are appreciated here, but more so without the personality clashes. Memories don't have to be competitive.

Any other questions/inquires, about rodeo, whether it's PRCA, Little Britches, Junior, High School or Collegiate, just ask. I will answer and, if she wants to, Faye will also. As far as WCRA rodeos, I know very little about that Association.

To note a very interesting thing that happened at the National Finals Rodeo this year, and all three were on the front of our Pro Rodeo Sports News Magazine for December: The trio of, Shad Mayfield, Cory Solomon and John Douch, three African-American Tie-Down Ropers were in the NFR. Three black rodeo cowboys have never competed at the NFR before! Last year, Shad and Cory did and they made NFR history. Before them, the only recent black Tie-Down Roper was Fred Whitfield. Thirty-five years before Shad won his Tie-Down World Championship (2020), his dad was the very first black Tie-Down Roper to win a World Championship.

As far as rough stock riders go, Charlie Sampson has been the only black rider to win a World Title in bull riding or rough stock competing. Charlie was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame a number of years ago. We have met him as well.

All four are terrific Tie-Down Ropers and wife and I have met all four. Actually, we seen Fred go into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame when we lived here before. Charlie, a great bull rider!

A HUGE "congratulations" to these guys! Now, we want to see a black gal in Barrel Racing.

Yep, can definitely be for rough stock riders! Not nearly so much for timed-event folks.

Well, I'm thinking about starting up my own rodeo thing online. It will be for the very serious rodeo fan, like we are, that really follow the Top 15 cowboy/cowgirls in PRCA and know who is in the Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame.

From what I've seen both on The Cowboy Channel, and while in Las Vegas during the NFR, PRCA rodeo is still very much going, with a lot of fans. Denver, Pendelton, Houston, Cheyenne, Red Bluff and a number of other BIG rodeos really draw in the sell-out crowds.

"Riding a 2000-pound-bull that wants you off his back is an unpredictable endeavor. When you nod your head and the chute opens, anything can happen. You might get hurt, you might win, you might lose. But one thing that bull riders can always rely on is the bullfighter. Dusty Tuckness is a professional bullfighter who makes his living putting his body between the bull and the fallen cowboy. He is the 5-time and reigning Pro Rodeo bullfighter of the year".

Don’t know anything about it other than this copy/paste article I happened upon but it looks like Rodeo and Los Angeles will be parting company.
To be sure, I didn’t know Los Angeles was big on Rodeo to begin with but here it is.
Note: I snipped off the bottom portion that was filled with links instructing folks to send in money to help with their fight. If you need those links I’ll be happy to provide them for you.

' .As many of you know, the final language for the City of Los Angeles Ordinance to ban all rodeo and rodeo-like events came out on December 22nd. As we have warned, this ban goes far beyond what meets the eye. , . . . Mark our words, this will soon extend to any and all equestrian activities in areas surrounding Los Angeles.

The next two months will be our biggest fight. We need to build a big “war chest” as quickly as possible to keep this issue in full light. The Western Sports Industry Coalition has not asked for any financial help from most of its members until now. , .
This is going to take a considerable amount of money.

Our fight on this issue got off to a great start with a number of one-time donations. However, the ongoing campaign over the past 10 months has been substantial. The monthly expenses of lobbyist fees, ad production and promotion, and countless hours of human resources have been covered by the PBR, FMCH-Ca, PRCA, Western Justice and California Circuit Finals.

We are now in the final and most important hours. . This is our fight to win or lose. it is now time for everyone, everywhere, with any involvement in western sports, to step up with a financial donation. We are going to need hundreds of thousands, not thousands, of dollars to keep the truth in front of people and educate those who can stop this.

PETA and Last Chance For Animals have put a major push on since the final language came out. They also put up billboards in downtown Los Angeles. We will be using funds to put up our own billboards, which our side has never done, Radio and TV ad buys, Social Media ad buys targeted to the City Councils Districts.

First of all, Bobby, the city/area of Los Angeles only had two rodeos each year. One at the Forum in Englewood, which is a suburb of Los Angeles. It was called the Forum Championship Rodeo, put on by PRCA with Flying "U" Rodeo Company as the Stock Contractor. Back in the mid 90's, I was there for that rodeo. A local sports network covered it, so I got to see myself on tv. After the Staples Center was built, events at the Forum lessened. The other was at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. The Equestrian Center didn't draw in nearly the crowd the Forum did. The LA County Fair didn't have a rodeo and I worked in the Livestock Division for one Fair.

It don't bother me a bit that both of those stopped. The Protesters will never get any Rocky Mountain States rodeos stopped.

Whether Rocky Mountain states go with it or not isn’t the point that they’re trying to make.

If PETA wins it will set a precedent for other suits and other sanctions.
The amount of money, lawyers and lobbyists that Peta has will make it difficult for other cities if indeed they win the Los Angeles suit.

PRCA "big" rodeos aren't going anywhere. PRCA has their own lawyers that have delt with PETA, as well as a couple of other organizations also. Bobby, there is way, way to much money a city can bring in from a PRCA rodeo, like Las Vegas. CFD (Cheyenne Frontier Days, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Pendelton Roundup, Red Bluff, Norco Mounted Posse Rodeo and some others are just too big of rodeos. In January 2021, the only spectators in attendance at the Western National Stock Show & Rodeo in Denver were the relatives/friends of contestants. Nobody else was allowed to go, due to the Covid 19. Cheyenne Frontier Days and Greeley Stampede canceled their rodeo in 2020, due to the virus. Both lost millions of dollars, but held their rodeos in 2021. It's almost unbelievable just how much a large rodeo can bring in.
The one thing PRCA and full-time rodeo contestants don't worry about is being shut-down or worry about PETA. PETA tried to stop my wife and I from entering the San Juan Capistrano Swallows Days Rodeo in 2000, but Orange County Sheriff Deputies escorted us and others in. Of course, at the dismay of PETA members, but.

Really small rodeos may have something happen to them, like Jurupa, CA rodeo, but it is very small.
