Pit: Walmart stopped carrying the Apple Cinnamon Brioche I like to make French Toast with. It came unsliced, so I could cut it as thick as I liked. No other stores around me carry a similar product.

Peak: I got out my stand mixer and am making my own. I kneaded the base ingredients (3 eggs, nonfat dry milk, flour, sugar, salt, yeast) for a few minutes, then kneaded it for another 10 minutes as I slowly incorporated the butter (10 TB), then kneaded it yet another 10 minutes until it was silky smooth (this is why I have a stand mixer.) It's rising now, and will sit in the fridge for a few days (or as long as I can hold out) to slow-rise and for the flavors to fully develop. Then I'll make an apple/cinnamon/brown sugar filling and bake the loaves. Then I'll make French Toast and freeze the rest.

Pit: I woke this morning still with the lingering effects of a cold that plagued me the last two or three days.
    Peak: I have gotten better.

    This one's easy today

Peak: Heavy rain for several days, ending this morning, and the basement did NOT leak. :)

Pit: Thunderstorms and power outage overnight seemed to cripple my pc. Finally got it to start up. Then a second power outage around noon killed it again and could never get it started. Switched over to a new pc I bought a few months ago. At least 4 hours spent setting it up, so far. Much more to go.

For the last few days CVS has been leaving voice mails that My wife's medicine is ready for pickup. She thought it was her blood pressure medicine which was about due for renewal. Yesterday she talked to the pharmacist because she didn't recognize the name of the medicine in the voice mail, she finds out that the medicine was prescribed by her oncologist. I pickup up the medicine, she researched it and finds out it's for cancer she supposedly doesn't have. This set her off in a talespin, with nerves, depression, the what ifs, we gave her a half a pill Xanax to clam her. I and my daughter felt the prescription had to be an error. We left off she would talk to the doctor tomorrow when she goes for her 7th chemo treatment.

    Peak
My wife had her 7th chemo treatment today, and talk to the doctor she found out that the prescription is definitely an error.
She was definitely relieved & happy.

Wow. That could have been a serious mistake by that oncologist, Tony. I'm glad your wife didn't just take the medicine.

Me too, we discussed it but since they made no mention of a new prescription with her last visit we figured we'd wait to talk to the doctor before using the prescription. My wife says the doctor was very apologetic, the pills were actually on her charts also.
We now own 3 bottles 90 days worth of chemo pills, I can't remember the name it's the one you see on TV all the time.

Pit: I like to cook and freeze faster than I consume the food, and I cannot find anything in my bottom freezer or my chest freezer.

Peak: I cleaned both of them out. I discovered some stuff I just might like to eat;) Someone please remind me I was not born during the Depression and I don't need all this stuff. I must have been depraved as a child.

Potential Future Pit: If I lose power during Sunday's storm, it's gonna be real costly.

I like to freeze stuff also.
Seems like every sale I see on Meats I buy and freeze.
I freeze all kinds of bread, I love bread, I use it in the morning with eggs, sandwiches for lunch, pasta for supper, I have bread at just about every meal.

Being single, I keep all my bread in the freezer so it does not go bad before it gets used.

I've got burger buns, hot dog buns, Italian bread, brioche, sliced wheat bread, bagels, etc. Then I got the raw meats and the prepared foods & sides I make. As I've said before, I like being able to decide what suits my fancy in the moment for a meal and having the ingredients on hand to make it...but I've got to start using what I've got and not replenishing for a while. I got chicken in there from when Frank Purdue still had hair. ;)

Peak... I forced myself outside to pour antifreeze into my radiator, preparing for what could be a very cold weekend and even with ice or snow. Now the Pit... was the local High School very near me, at least the football and sports fields are, but they have a loud speaker system in the stadium and it was blasting away while I was taking my afternoon nap. ;0(

As an ex-marching band member who used to practice during the week making amoeba-shapes in preparation of the upcoming football game, I offer a proxy apology. But it's January...what the heck are they doing out there this time of year???

Many years ago we purchased half of a steer from a company called westrock meat. They would butcher it into any cut you like, roast, steaks, chop meat, hamburgers, stew Etc
would freezer wrap it for you, and blast freeze it, and label it. We had a very large freezer back then, this gave us enough meat for a year. With the deal came about 10 lb of chicken, and the same for pork. It was a terrific deal and meat quality.

Most likely making up for last year. Really their speaker is pointed directly at my bedroom window, altho some distance off I could hear the Pledge of Allegiance every morning over the speaker before this covid mess came to school. Off in the distance and slightly over the fence I see people in orange shirts running back and fourth but I have no idea what sport they may be practicing for. My younger brother would go sit in the bleachers and drink beer before he passed away. Now myself ... well the nap is what I need.
