I have a pair of ear phones that plug directly into the tv. It is independent of the regular tv sound. You can turn the volume up or down and it doesn’t affect the tv’s regular sound output. I got mine at Target.
Suppose to get them in a few days. If they aren't what we want, will return. The order has a 30-day return policy. They look like they will work fine, but, never know until used. Will keep you informed.
@Hedi Mitchell, just hooked up the Ears and they work fine for us. Will keep them. We have a Samsung Soundbar hooked up to our tv thru Optical connection on the back of the tv. The Ears come as both analog and optical audio output/input. Can't hook up the optical, since the soundbar is hooked up into the tv optical and there is only one on the back of our tv. So, currently, we have the Ears hooked up to the tv thru analog cables. The Ears will help tremendously when we are watching a dvd movie that has very low sound in the movie. We love the tv show, The Equalizer, but can barely understand what's being said without having the tv soundbar turned up high. Now, all we do is put on the TV-Ears, turn them on and mute the tv. Can hear every word being said in the tv show. So, for us, they are very close to being perfect.
Yep, this is the pair we have and are keeping. Will never have neighbors complain that our tv is too loud and will never say to each other, "what did that person just say". And, just to let everyone know, we don't use the TV-Ears all of the time. They sit in the charging unit, when not being used.
Hi Don, I've noticed how much better I can hear older movies, and shorter, black and white tv shows I can find on my smartTV channels like youtube & Roku. I don't know what they've "improved on" as far as audio in these new Televisions, I suppose the graphics but the sound is frustrating. I've tried headphones, soundbars, and ear-bud type too. I'd be interested, but a bit nervous paying that price although it would be worth it if these really work, the TV Ears I mean. I do have some slight hearing loss, but like I said, when I can hear some programs perfectly fine, it is not all my "hearing".
These look like they could be a good option. I have been looking for something like this. I use my iPhone and a tv with a wireless connection when I am watching alone. I can hear much better on headphones.
We just listened to episode 1 of season 4 of Yellowstone with our tv ears. They worked great for us and are so happy we bought them.
