Why Walking and Talking Therapy Works "I believe nature is intrinsically good for the spirit, whether we are troubled or not but especially so when we are struggling with problems". (READ MORE)
Re-thinking what I said in my first post, about dog-walking not counting....maybe I was wrong. Why Dog Walking is Good for You "'There is a hope that a dog injects into every walk,' writes John Zeaman in his book Dog Walks Man. 'More than a hope – an expectation really – that this is going to be something wonderful.' That hope rubs off. However rainy the day, however disheartened you may feel, the sight of a dog dashing joyfully through the grass lightens the spirits."
Good Hours by Robert Frost I had for my winter evening walk- No one at all with whom to talk, But I had the cottages in a row Up to their shining eyes in snow. And I thought I had the folk within: I had the sound of a violin; I had a glimpse through curtain laces Of youthful forms and youthful faces. I had such company outward bound. I went till there were no cottages found. I turned and repented, but coming back I saw no window but that was black. Over the snow my creaking feet Disturbed the slumbering village street Like profanation, by your leave, At ten o’clock of a winter eve.
Helen Keller's Morning Walk - 1954 "Famous deaf-blind writer and social activist Helen Keller goes for a morning walk at her home in Easton Connecticut, U.S.A. Transcript: "Every morning Helen goes for a walk along a thousand foot hand rail, built by a loving friend to guide her. A thousand feet where she is alone and free. Her walk seldom varies. But for Helen it is always full of small unexpected events."
In the 6 years I've lived here, I've looked for someone to walk with, it's my fave thing for exercise, and just enjoying fresh air, and all nature has to offer. But no one will go, and I always tell them I'll walk your pace. I've always enjoyed walks, since I was a little girl with my grandpa. But I don't wait for anyone to go with me, or I'd never go, so I go several times a week, sometimes every day. If it pouring rain, I walk our 2nd floor here which is the only one that makes a complete circle. Only on lady keeps her blinds open and it's nice to see that there is someone actually "alive" in the building. No one wants people peeking in (that would actually do that) but it's like a lot of mole-holes in this place. Sorry, but I miss living in a house, and in a rural area
That was so good to watch @Joe Riley It really hit me how much of a Miracle it had to be for Helen to learn all she did. I still cannot imagine how it was possible to teach here so much when she couldn't see the world and it's people, or hear them. I think that's the only, true miracle I've ever read about or seen in my whole life, I mean up close and personal, although I do believe the miracles of the bible.
Walking my little dog Mimmie is pretty fun, although she has to read every bit of her p-mail so it's stop and go all the way Once in awhile she will prance along with me and we can have a really good walk together I so agree with the sight of a dog dashing joyfully when I find there is no one around, and no other dogs, I let her off the leash and to see her run is just absolutely, joyful!!
The Dos and Don’ts of Walking Your Cat When starting out, even just allowing your cat to get used to the leash by laying it next to their sleeping areas can help them get used to it. You should let your cat take the lead when walking on the leash, at least until they get used to it! Read More & Gifs
