we sold out 6 years ago from NC to Southern Illinois...did consider living in camper somewhere 6 months...somewhere else...6 months... our daughter is here so...best to get resettled where she and our son in law will check on us if we go to nursing home...so we won't be beat up there... Course ...they check on us now too .. it's cold here!
I went to clear the driveway and sidewalk with my single stage snow thrower earlier in the week after our last snowfall and the snow thrower didn’t start. My fault. I was supposed to prime the bulb twice but for the first time ever I forgot and just pulled the rope. When I realized what I had forgotten to do I primed but I ended up flooding the engine. Instead of pulling the plug I just did the cleanup with a shovel. I paid for it. Next day I dried and cleaned the plug and it started right up. I’m looking at a two stage blower now at Lowes for $899. It seems like a lot for only being used a few times a year and I still have the single stage so I don’t know.
Oh...I was gonna say....first thing my husband bought was a big gas powered...snow machine...we used it once....it is so hard to crank...and we only needed small paths....gave it to our son in law...who already has a big tractor plow. .but he at least can crank it and use around up close to their house...out to barn... We got one of those snow Jo's...easier and battery powered......my husband almost dislocated his shoulder trying to crank that other one
We bought a nice, but small, gas/oil combined, snowblower when we lived here before. It worked really great, that is, unless the snow was to wet. Like the kind of snow that a kid could make a snowman or snowball out of. Then, the snow would clog in the blade area and I'd have to clean that area out before it would work again. Then, one time it ran out of gas and I picked the wrong gas container. The one I picked was gas only! The one I should used the one that I put "Gas/Oil" on. The blower worked for a few minutes, then completely stopped..........or IOW, engine froze! Ended up giving it to our next door neighbor who told me he could fix it. At that time, we were getting ready to move out of Colorado.
NOW, my bigger question is this, for those that live in winter weather: just how do you handle arthritis pain during those winter months? Wife uses ibuprofen, CBD Deep Rub and CBD Gummies (1/2 Gummy) like I also do. But, I also have a VA prescription of 50mg Tramadol to take every-other day. The Tramadol, combined with a VA prescription of 800mg ibuprofen, take away my shoulder osteoarthritis pain for pretty much the entire day. So, how do you handle your pain, unless you're lucky enough not to have any.
My doctor prescribed tramadol and meloxicam for pain. I guess it works but not all day. I'm a little leery of OTC pain meds which have side effects if too much is taken, although I do take Tylenol PM before bed for the PM sleep part mostly.
The new two stage snow blowers have electric start with no battery. It plugs into you household outlet. When it turns over you disconnect.
because we'd spent so much on the move...new place...all to do...we're tapped out on any more luxuries...we got a snow jo...a shovel...that much snow.. we no go...ha!
I try not to do things to aggravate things...especially this hiatal hernia...no hope there...but advil is good for now turmeric and magnesium help... if I take...everyday
