I have fought using drugs for much of anything but I need to occassionally now or I can't WALK. I worry because they are warning against old people taking ibuprofen or even aspirin now.
We have had to be our own health advocates now when in my youth, whatever the doctor said was the way it was. I researched long and hard to decide who would replace my hip and I mostly do natural remedies. I am having a bit of a problem with fascia in my thigh. It feels like a wire wrapped around it and someone pulling one end. Chiro does not work and the myo release guy I found is pretty far away and pricey.
@Mary Stetler - i have slept with a small pillow between legs laying on my side for years because of sciatica. It went away long ago, but still sleep that way. Your problem may be more advanced .
I tend to be on my feet a lot so my hip, leg and especially toe joints get sore. I have read that as we get older we lose the fatty padding in the bottom of our feet so pressing down on a hard surface is painful which is true in my case, but things are much worse for others if I just look around so I suck it up.
I am now nursing a totally messed up stomach after taking daily Motrin for an arthritic knee and spine. At one point my orthopedist put me on meloxicam but I went back on Motrin which really helps. I was on 20mg Nexium for GERD which I thought would protect my gut but didn't. I was put on 40mg Nexium for 4 weeks and just went back to 20 today. I haven't had a Motrin in 2 months ,only the occasional tylenol. So far my arthritis hasn't acted up but I'm worried if it does- tylenol doesn't cut it.
An 800 mg Ibuprofen, given by VA Medical, taken 10 minutes after my 50mg Tramadol, also from the VA, makes my shoulder(s) osteoarthritis pain go away for up to 8 hours. The pain came in after have rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders. Only suppose to take the Tramadol every-other day, but, because it's been so darn cold out lately, sometimes have to take two days in a row. On days I don't use Tramadol, out comes the CBD Gummy. Wife and I never/ever take a whole one, only 1/2. We also use a jar of CBD Deep Rub for pain as well. I've taken 800 mg Ibuprofen since 2015 and have had no problems with it. I also take a VA prescription for GERD as well, and don't have to chew up Tums all day!
I had ankle tendonitis a few years back. One thing that really helped were these wraps that I found. There's one that's for cold and one that stimulates blood flow which helps to heal the tendonitis. I believe they were from King Brand. http://kingbrand.com/Ankle-Extensor-Tendonitis.php?REF=2156PV710.1492
For eye opening information, look up again the many side effects of all those drugs, even taking just one. Then look up how your very own liver produces and uses throughout your very own body Lglutamine/ glutathione/ nac...... As different as light and darkness, pain with stress and maybe some relief, or pain gone, relaxed, no stress.
Last year when I had constant unrelenting acute arthritic pain that went on for months, I took whatever I could to suppress it. Nothing else mattered. And I bet the vast majority of people would do the same.
I think I told the story of an acquaintance rheumatologist. He said my patients would take anything to stop the pain...even if it killed them.
Was the vast majority of people ever completely right in what they thought and in what they did ? How many were willing to make a complete life-change, at least per diet, to eliminate what causes harm to themselves ? Not many. The results? Those who changed to eliminate the causes of their troubles no longer had those troubles.
