Dang. I was hoping the Kitchenaid bread bowl might squeeze in there.

I just measured again. The 2 rear heating elements on the top protrude lower in the oven than the front ones do.

The bowl I use for rising bread is 5 1/2" tall. When I put it in the oven at the lowest rack setting, there is exactly 1 1/2" clearance between the top of the bowl and the rear top heating element. (The rack slopes down at the front, giving you 1 3/4" clearance at the front heating element.)

So the tallest bowl you can barely fit would be 7" tall...unless it were shallow enough to not go all the way to the back, in which case it could be 7 1/4" tall.

edit to add: If the K.A. bowl would fit, I'd get me one.

Well, I just measured the KA bowl and it's 8.5" tall. :(

I usually proof dough on the countertop so I'd probably not use the proofing option.

I always proof in my Breville. Being a steady 80°F and shielded from drafts gives me a reliable rise time.

I think I mentioned that my 6 tray Excalibur dehydrator is plenty tall enough to fit most any container, but the "proof" function (it's lowest setting) is 115°F. I've not tried it, but that seems way too high. Obviously, a fast rise would not give the flavors time to develop.

Well, my husband just pushed me over the edge. (It didn't take much of a push.) He said, "oh go ahead and buy it; the price will probably be going up soon." So, I did. I got it for $232 after using my rewards $$.

    Breville "out for delivery!" upssmiley1.gif

I see that it is back to $399 today so I'm glad I saved $50. I think the LC bread baker is coming tomorrow.

    YAY!!!

The downside I've discovered is I've made more baked sweets that I used to since I got mine. I don't make cookies in it because a half-batch is a waste of dough-making time, but I've done things I've never fired up my large oven for, like apple-spice bars and lemon curd bars...anything that will fit in a baking/casserole dish.

I eagerly await reports on the bread baker fitting (or not.) So who gets the old Breville?

Why not make cookie dough and freeze half of it? :D I didn't bake more sweets when I got my first Breville, but I use the hell out of it every day. Right now it's got a casserole dish of scalloped potatoes bubbling away in there!

I'm wanting to test out the air fry feature to see if I can ditch the giant air fryer that's taking up kitchen real estate, and I might try dehydrating some apples this weekend. The LC bread baker will be tested this weekend, too.

I decided the old Breville will be deep cleaned and moved into the motorhome. It will be a nice addition to that small kitchen. Hmmm. I have the Breville wooden cutting board that I use on top of that oven; I wonder if it will fit on the new one? It has little feet that leave a gap between the top of the hot oven and the board, so I can actually sit things on top of the oven when it's in use.

If I were single and making my pie with my teeth which would go in my mouth to eat my pie….why not? Beats using feet with scroungy old moldy toe nails to crush grapes to make wine that everyone in the world is gonna drink.
