It is also called Lobellia Leaves, and is so useful as a tincture anti-seizure natural remedy, the tincture is banned by pharmacy - it can't be used by any licensed medical or health care workers, officially.
Granted, Indian Tobacco doesn’t have any nicotine but that generally isn’t what causes the majority of respiratory problems for a smoker. Nicotine does paralyze the cilia and is one of the addictive elements but the constant buildup of tar in and around the air sacs is the most damaging and burning Indian Tobacco does create tar. Burning pot, tobacco, Indian tobacco, banana peels or anything organic creates tar when burnt. Once inhaled the tar will stick to wherever it settles. That said, the one main features of smoking Indian Tobacco is that smoking even a little too much of it causes the smoker to vomit hence that alternate name, Puke Weed. It’s hard to become addicted to something that makes ya sick and throw-up on your shoes. And yeah, there are sites on the net that still sell the stuff.
I mentioned before that the VA prescribes Chantix to help Veterans quit smoking even though it may cause depression and thoughts of suicide. Imagine giving someone with PTSD something to help them quit smoking but making them even more depressed. The good news is that Yvonne told me yesterday that they are recalling Chantix because it is found to create cancer. Let’s see. Give something that causes cancer to someone who is trying to quit smoking to avoid cancer. The Government at it’s best.
I worked with a guy who tried Chantix. He quit because it made him rageful. Regarding the cancer claim...the drug is FDA-approved after all that rigorous testing. Surely it's safer than the rushed-through vaccine, which is extremely safe...isn't it?
There were members of my family who smoked, from Camel cigarettes to a pipe. I smoked my first cigarette during the end of my Senior year of high school. It was a filtered cigarette and I truly thought I was going to "cough myself to death". Tried smoking a pipe once, but that made me feel too old! Then, in the Navy, and out at sea, there were two thing that would keep a sailor awake during a watch late at night or very early in the morning...........cup of coffee and a cigarette! But, the smokers I talked to, told me to never call myself a "smoker". Why? I would generally only smoke (Kent, Salem, Marlboro, Marlboro Lights) 1 1/2 packs a week. I had smokers tell me, "Heck, I smoke that in half a day". Then, when I bought my first horse, I switched from cigarettes, to snuff aka Copehagen and Skoal Longcut. I even tried Red Man chewing tobacco. Quite a number of guys that I done weekend rodeo with used either Copehagen or Skoal. But, I didn't use that much, and after a week or so, still had half a can left. Then, I started getting some irritation inside my lower lip, so wife and I decided I'd better stop using the Skoal. This was just prior to my hip replacement surgery. That was in Oct. 2005. The following Spring, I broke down and bought a can of Skoal Longcut. We were in our boat fishing, I took out the can and got a "dip" and put it inside my lower lip. Less than 30 seconds later, I took it out and thru it and the can away. That was in 2006 and haven't used tobacco since. So, IOW, Marie, it was very easy for me to quit, because I was a very light smoker all those years.
I began smoking in early teens(mom and dad's butts) Probable a pack a day by end of teen years. Over course of life tried several different ways to stop including timing, hypnosis. Finally went cold turkey in 1988 and never took another one. I inhaled everything that I smoked pipe, cigars, cogsrettes.....A lot of the missteps were caused by my love for having a cigar.
I smoked for about 10 to 15 years, starting in high school until 1971 when I quit. I was on a self improvement mission to lose weight, quit smoking and get an education. I tried many times to quit previously. I was doing well, but while in the service I kept getting bumped off flights when getting shipped overseas, that I bought a pack and continued the habit for years after. When I quit, the first thing I noticed was that I could actually taste the food I was eating as opposed to the constant aftertaste of tobacco with the food. Another was alertness and energy. It was very noticeable. My neighbor across the street who is about my age was forced to quit when he got some health issue. He isn't what he used to be. Moves a lot slower with a cane.
Funny, but at our last apartment complex I talked to an older lady/Senior who was an RN, but had retired from it. Her daughter lived in the complex with her granddaughter. Each and every time I seen this lady, she was smoking a cigarette. One time we were talking and I brought up smoking to her (told her I use to smoke) and she told me that her PCP told her she should stop. Well, while walking into the medical building for an appointment she had with him, and going by an outside employee break area, she noticed him in the area smoking a cigarette. Yes, he was smoking a cigarette! When she seen him she told him that she would quit when he did. Really put the dude on the spot, being that fact that he didn't know that she had seen him in that area smoking.
I was roofing my house in April just four miles from where I live today, almost was finished and a cold April rain started and I finished the roof in the cold rain, got pneumonia and was down for two weeks. I finally crawled out of the crypt and went back to work, lit a cigarette and it just about killed me, I stomped it out and have not lit another one for 30 years now. I started eating those nut covered vanilla ice cream cones and got crazy with them. Man were they good ! I could smell again and taste and I would advise anyone to just do it and add some years while you can. I personally had no problem because I was ready to quit and it really is mind over matter. All you do is say enough I will not smoke another. When you think about life's decisions there are much worse than just quitting smoking. You can do it but only if you want to quit.
i quit smoking in2017--i bought a daily electronic cigarette and havent smoked a regular cigarette since--i dont coughlike i use to cause all the chemicals arent in them like the real cigarettes and i dont have a craving like i did withthe real cigs
It's amazing how many "triggers" there are that cause us to shove a cigarette in our mouths. Those e-cigarettes are great for helping us not break the stride of daily life...without killing us.
