I usually cook bacon this way. No mess/splatter, easy clean up, and still get that bacon smell. After I drain I put the bacon in a zip loc bag and store in freezer …. at breakfast just take out a few pieces. 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a sheet pan. 3. Lay the bacon on top of the parchment paper. 4. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the bacon is desired crispness. 5. You mean you don't save the bacon grease for cooking and seasoning? I have a microwave cooker than has ridges to drain away the fat, which is kept in a jar on the stove.
To reheat the frozen bacon put in microwave for about 20-30 seconds. You can save drippings if you want. Just pour into jar or whatever for other uses.
I wouldn't save the fat...I like to dry fry wherever I can... When you cook the frozen bacon do you cook it on low temps in the micro...cuz wouldn't it go rubbery on a high temp?
No temperature adjustments are necessary. It doesn't get rubbery. You're simply reheating cooked bacon, same as when you're reheating anything else. You are not cooking bacon in the microwave, you're reheating bacon that has bern cooked (baked) in the oven. It's quite simple - I've been doing it for years with no problem whatsoever.
If you get the time? Takes much less time than frying bacon in a pan, cooks more evenly, less mess. But maybe it's not for you.
I also work full time...run a house, and have several other projects in between... If I'm cooking bacon, it takes just a few minutes...so it's not high on my agenda to freeze it to cook for another day...but like I said if I get some spare time, I may try it and see if it saves me any time in the long run..
Love bacon too, but now we eat veggie bacon. I don't use the oven for my veggie bacon cooking. Though veggie bacon is a bit more expensive my Mother likes it so I get veggie bacon for us to eat. Love bacon and your method sounds good!
@Krissttina Isobe I heard about it on TV cooking show and also read the link that I posted. I tried veggie bacon a long time ago and didn't like it.
One can microwave a perfect scrambled egg in 45 seconds. Break it into a microwavable bowl about 5 inches in diameter, big enough to beat the egg a bit frothy. Pop it in for 25 seconds on "high", remove and mix with a fork, 20 seconds more, and you will have a nice, puffy scrambled egg. Season before cooking, if you like. Plastic bowls tend to "stick" egg residue, this is preventable if it troubles, by lightly coating with a bit of olive oil, or "Pam" spray before breaking the egg into the bowl. Try it! Frank
