@Yvonne Smith Thanks! I just wish the majority saw it like you. Being rooted deep in ranch and country life, you understand the cycle of life. I was raised and still live by Ecclesiastes 3:4 as I am guessing you were also.
Well, when I was involved in pro-rodeo, because of where I lived, I had "negative" statements thrown at me. There are those that will think "negative" of a person who says they don't like the multiple tattoos, body piercings, language and on and on of today. There are those that have these things that will look "negative" at people who dislike them. "Positive" type people either "go with the flow" or "don't care" how another person looks or talks. I call that "overly positive". They don't want to see the bad in anything. It does seem like, the older we get, sometimes the more "negative" we get. Many Seniors want things to be like they were 30 years ago or more. So, when we talk about today, we seem to talk "negative" about certain things. There are Seniors that really, really wish they could do the things they did years ago, but just can't anymore. There's an old saying, "If you can't say anything good (positive) about something, don't say it at all". As for myself, I don't believe in that statement one bit. Being overly "positive" to many is being way to passive.
Excellent Cody! Now try replacing negative with pessimistic. "It does seem like the older we get sometimes the more pessimistic we get." Doesn't pessimistic express what you are trying to convey more descriptive and accurately? It does for me. I think you are starting to get my drift cowboy as we might say riding the range.
Here's a short anecdote on the subject at hand: Years ago, I was recruited to a firm as head of development. After only several days on the job, the COO asked me to do something. When I told him it wouldn't work, he said "You're just being negative, do it anyways" Well, I refused and left the company. A year later I happened to meet up with said person at a convention. I asked, "How did that job work out?" He said, "It didn't and things went to hell." I said, "You're just being negative." True story.
Hubby is positive type and I am more on the negative or reality type, Hubby will look in a stall full of horse manure and say," theres got to be a pony in here somewhere". I see a stall full of horse crap and say " what a mess, lots of work to do". So we keep each other in balance I guess.
I am whatever is a healthy attitude for the situation at hand. Humans have emotions for a reason and denying these emotions to appear positive is unhealthy. We have a long thread about this somewhere so I will spare the forum my positivity that appears negative to the untrained eye and ear.
Well Faye I think its best to be positive if extreme, hubby will be taking care of business while I'm shaking in my boots somewhere worrying about things that may not happen.
I try to be in the middle, as being both positive and negative. I've seen what can happen with overly positive people as well as overly negative people. When I explain to my wife something that she sees overly positive, she will think about what I've told her and see more of both the positive and negative sides. However, my SIL (wife's sister) is very overly positive and really dislikes seeing anything negative. The "walking thru the rose garden" type, I guess. Funny, but about the only times, within America, that many people see the "positive" in things is at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are those that really dislike Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. The positive thing they see in Memorial Day is having that Monday off to go out boating or whatever. The ones that dislike either of those days, being on the negative side, don't know anyone who has been, or is, in any of the Military Services or, believe it or not, doesn't like America's military at all. Yes, there are people like that.
Hedi today its raining, dirt roads are flooding and more trenches to cross over, but it also means no fires for awhile since Florida was starting to burn with wildfires again last month.
Yes it is and according to the book of negatives I should be glad all this stuff is going on, but I'm still bored.
It all depends on the mood I'm in which is usually decided by how well I slept the night before. After a bad night's sleep, everything sucks.
BASICALLY I’ve lived on the negative side of life after seeing it was more likely than anything positive.
