"The elderly are useless eaters." - Henry Kissinger. quoted in the book The Final Days. Necropollitics revolves around exactly who in any society is sentenced to civil or social death. These are those who are denied the egalitarian benefits of democracy, those deemed unworthy of citizenship, the outcast, & can only expect certain premature death. While Achille Mbembe identifies necropolitics as a part of the sovereignty specifically exercised by imperial powers over their colonies, it is easy to see it exercised domestically as well. From the POV of psychology, this is part of the 'otherness' inherent to human nature, dysfunctional yet normal & therefore not up for change. This is what people do when stressed out over declining resources & destruction of human habitat. .... like now? Useless eaters aren't the problem. Useless leaders are the problem.
Henry Kissinger is yet another narcissist who would have been nothing but “a useless eater” had it not been for the Vietnam War. The only peace he ever brokered was his own peace of mind via the amounts of money he stuffed into his pockets and the notoriety of ambassador placed upon his head. After reading a few clips from his book, one of them has Kissinger predicting that by 2050, at least 4 billion of the elderly will be dispensed with from small wars, organized epidemics with fatal fast acting diseases and starvation. If that wasn’t as it always is, this statement would be brilliant but all he’s doing is being captain obvious and throwing the figure of 4 billion in to add to his other super powers as the ultimate prognosticator. He, like a major portion of other elderly and younger folks with power and prestige, do not see others in the same light as themselves and will inevitably view others as less valuable and burdensome to society.
Just watched a show on 'food as medicine'. Most people are useless eaters as the processed foods they choose CAUSE their diseases, making them less productive. Then A while back, I read that, as manufacturing leaves the country, our economy will be upheld by medical and pharmaceutical industries. Wait! That would make people useful eaters!
You would like Sarah Westall's website. She says the same about our bad food causing illness. https://sarahwestall.com/
Point of view: what about the useless eaters who voted for the useless leaders and support/ supported them ?
"The elderly are useless eaters." - Henry Kissinger. quoted in the book The Final Days. He was born in May 1923 making him almost 99. I wonder if he still feels that way?
Apparently, just about the same term was used by Klaus Schwab when he spoke at the World Economic Forum, where he is the founder and chairman. As seniors, who are mostly not in the work force any longer, we are probably one of the main goals of population reduction through diseases like covid.
One of Obama's advisors (was it Axelrod?) threw out the rational for calculating "useful life years" when rationing health care. Of course, these things are never universally applied.
Of course not, because they'd have to include the president, nearly everyone on the Supreme Court, and the majority of the members of Congress as useless eaters, as well as the members of the elite who would be the first to press the button on the rest of us.
Lest anyone be a fan of George Bernard Shaw, he proposed that people should appear before a board of 'authorities' and explain why they were useful to society. If their answers didn't satisfy the judges they were granted a merciful death. This kind of thinking is a century old. Satan walks among us.
