Just another reason why I like, and get along with very well, kids in rodeo (Little Britches all the way to college and then the Pros) and ranch kids.
This song was probably written about people who are now more nearly our ages, since it talks about long hair and hippies, and not rap music and underwear outside of your pants. However, the message is just as real today as it was back then.
IMO it has nothing to9 do with the youth it is what this society has left them. Now it is cool to be one of the minority groups of alternative lifestyles. My oldest granddaughter is also a ' professing' lesbian because a boy rejected her ,her and her peers decided she is queer. They have pushed these agendas for decades in schools and entertainment including music.
Well, all young people have a choice on who to be friends with, unless the young person doesn't have enough confidence to make right decisions. All can say "no", but to be a part of something, many won't. It's all very, very unfortunate.
But, it's not all of our society/culture. There is still "good", but it's up to people to decide good from bad.
