Ummm, I was close many times to getting a flip phone over many years and did NOT....how have I ever "made it"? Millions today don't want to miss a thing, sleep with their stuff at night.

I feel sad for people who live their lives with their noses in their phones like that. A while ago I posted a picture of people sightseeing on a boat, and a large number of them were looking at the sites through their phone as they were recording it. I might take the occasional photo, but I actually enjoy the experience, especially these days knowing that there are tons of pics & vids on the web of that scenery that are way better than anything I can take. What's insane is that many commercials no longer have actors on set, there's just a phone with the actor on it video conferencing. It's off-putting. I don't like being told that this is "normal." The only reason I got a cell phone in the first place is because pay phones went by the wayside...I wanted to be able to make an emergency call should I have the need.
Interesting - 'demon' smart phone? Demons are "smart" , yes, but always deceptive and leading to harm whoever follows. Perhaps phones /electronics/ also ? A way to get away from reality, into an alternative space to escape into nothing ?
People stare at them while driving and walking into stationary objects on our streets and they are called "smartphones"?!.
I grew up not having or depending on electronics, no phones, tv, computers, well heck no electricity at all. When I left the Amish and lived among the English, I never bothered to get any of the cell phones, tv, radios, computers. I will admit to owning a calculator, I am lousy at math, you can not miss what you never had.
I used to feel the same way when people had to photograph everything rather than enjoy their surroundings and experiences. A few photos as a reminder are fine, but I knew people who never "experienced" anything, they just took pictures of it and now have thousands of pictures that no one views, and after they die, nobody even knows what they are about.
