Since this thread is about salt: #1: All I see in that report are concerns over heavy metals, not human poopies. But I don't like those NIH reports because I can never get to the details behind the summaries...it's kinda frustrating. #2: Your warnings made me go start reading. There is a more universal concern over particles of plastic in sea salt. Here's one chart. Keep in mind that the size of "particle" is not defined where I could find it. The article goes into detail as to what these particles consist of. It does not explain how the Himalayan Rock Salt can have twice as many plastics in it than the Atlantic Sea Salt, yet be inland. Some comments contradict what the author states, so don't take it all as gospel.

How does homosysteine react, or what happens to it, with vitamin e and vitamin c and vitamin a ? The reason I ask is first of all I don't know and don't want to take the time to look it up if you already know, and before five or six decades ago, various doctors, scientists and nobel prize winners who were honest proved heart problems/much new at the time disease could be eliminated by taking the correct amount of vitamins and/or others.
Himalayan Salt Safety I don't want to beat this to death, but I also don't want my comments here to leave the inference that Himalayan salt is unsafe to eat...at least, not because of the NIH article. The NIH article raises concerns regarding the saltpans at Sandspit, Karachi, Pakistan. (A saltpan is an undrained natural depression in which water gathers and leaves a deposit of salt on evaporation.) These particular saltpans are on the Arabian Sea and receive untreated effluents through the Lyari River. Seawater is pumped into these saltpans as part of commercial salt production (which is why this is the subject of an NIH article in the first place.) This area is extremely high in heavy metals, making salt obtained from these specific saltpans under the influence of the Lyari River unsafe to eat. I have no idea to what nations this salt is distributed. Himalayan Salt is from ancient mines in the northeastern part of Pakistan, and has nothing to do with the Sandspit saltpans. Here is a map of Pakistan. The large red area is where the Himalayan salt mines are, and the green star is Sandspit. (That black line leading into Sandspit is not a river, it is the boundary between two of Pakistan's four provinces. There are 3 Federal territories in the far northeast.)

I don't know what homocysteine has to do with salt as it is an amino acid product intermediate between methionine and cysteine and is thought to cause arterial wall damage. It is remedied by pyridoxine and folate, but there is no money in that so it is pretty much ignored.
My Dr who did my upper and lower scope work, said to use lemon salt, it is good for people with high blood pressure which of course salt is what makes too much body fluid. I looked every where I shopped and could not find lemon salt.. I suspect it would be available at large chain stores but not so much in rural areas. I try to cut back on salt but by the time it kills me I will be too old to tie my shoes or go to the bathroom by myself. If you were worth billions of dollars you still wouldn't live any longer than your original timeshare issued by our maker. We worry too much, if we have problems with things like salt just follow recommendations by our doctors. ;0)

That's the start of the problem last century - trusting doctors. Medicine for almost a century has been the fastest growing cause of sickness and death in the usa. Docrots who follow ama/fda/cdc advice lose. Doctors who do what is right win. but ... doctors who do what is right are blacklisted, shunned by the official medical community , fda, ama, cdc in the usa. As far as salt goes, healthy water-soluble (dissolves very easily in water) salt is fine and healthy and normal for almost everyone. Unhealthy, not dissolves very easily in water, salt is terrible and causes a lot of damage in the blood vessels, heart, brain, kidneys, liver and so on as the body is injured by it daily.

Some people try to reduce homocysteine levels with drugs, even if the levels are normal and healthy. Even if something else is what is causing any problem. Using drugs that the body treats as toxins to try to change symptoms for some reason or another is not as beneficial as using natural foods, herbs or drinks to address the actual health concern. Salt is not necessarily itself responsible for too much body fluid. There are dozens or hundreds of other items that may be responsible even more - hundreds of drugs/prescriptions are the most common, btw. It is important to get unprocessed, fresh foods, as much as possible or altogether. - i.e. nothing from a box or can, to start on the healthy road. Contaminants in most water in most places make it necessary to avoid tap water and most bottled water also.
