So time ago I was looking for a video of an owl eating any largish mammalian prey item, and found just one vid of an owl eating a juvenile possum. But in that search, I came across this video of a heron eating a live rabbit! This ain't no baby rabbit, and it's kicking all the way down.

It's not real gory, but it is a live, struggling rabbit getting swallowed whole by a heron, so be advised.

I've never heard of such a thing. I'm still in shock.

I have yet to find a single egg, Susan, dyed or otherwise. Maybe they're just great hiders. ;)

... completely off topic but I can't find the Pets And Criitters thread to ask my question. It seems to have disappeared.

My question is - how soon might I expect hummingbirds. I'm in Maryland.

This site tracks their migration. There seems to be a few reported sightings in your region already, some in March.

    -Chance
    -Princess Anne
    -Snow Hill
    -Salisbury

Regarding that thread...Search on a "word"--Posted by "Dwight Ward"--that you probably used in that thread to see where one of your comments currently resides, in case threads got merged under a different Topic.

edit to add: "Pets & Critters" is a group, not a Thread title.

Gotcha. Thanks for the bird info.
I like to put narcotics in their sugar water so they get dopey and can't fly. Then I let my cats chase them down.

Just kidding. They are magical creatures.

I put out feeders every once in a while, but certainly not every year. Mine fight over them...territorial little buggers.

Regarding that lost thread: "Pets & Critters" is a Group (it's still there), not a Thread title.
