Facebook is a waste of people's time, especially those who post crap there. People who have business or hobby-related facebook pages are another matter.

The problem with business pages is that someone like me who has no Facebook account cannot easily view it.
I found that out when I was running a hobbyist web site. After about a month of messing with the Facebook page, I gave up posting to it and never went back.
The place is governed by a bunch of foreign commies, servers all over the world due to the huge size of membership. Guess what, most of the world hates America !!! I tried 3 times to keep an account active due to knowing so many veterans I served with daily. After the commies started going back 5 years to ban for something I said was a bit to silly for me. I miss talking to my old buddies but facebook and the commies can kiss my _ _ _. My freedom of expression is much more important than spending long hours on a place that is making billions due to the very content I write or post. I hate commies and I hate young morons that aspire to be a commie. ;0) I know I know, I sound like Flint Cristwood in Gran Torino. My Gran Torino was much more prettier. The one in the warehouse background was not mine, but mine was identical. I had to order mine and it took 2 months to get it. All that was available at the time was bucket seat models, my wife wanted the bench seat so that was the reason for the delay. ;0(
I never understood why my oldest wanted everyone to contact her through facebook. She Said it was easier--convenient. I never joined. Not because I don't love my kids but why can't they just drop me an email, a phone call or a note? I even learned to text on a FLIP PHONE
Asking family to do something like that in order to "stay in touch" reduce relationships to something along the order of a chore to be done. They may as well have "If you're a parent, Oprima el Numero Dos" on their phones, followed up with "Please hold for the next available offspring. Your familial connection is important to us." That's a horrible thing to delegate to that level, and it's become the norm for so many.
I do understand the reluctance to the idea of using FB as a family contact point but on the other hand there’s the option of opening a family group site. I think Yvonne’s daughter-in-law started such a site so those on that side of the family can post pictures and report the births, graduations, busted toenails or whatever to the group as a whole. Of course, for individual dealings they e-mail, text or call each other but the FB option is sort of a family gathering point. Personally, even though I’m a member, if FB disappeared today I wouldn’t be bothered by it but since it’s still on line I peruse the sites I like and avoid a lot of the drama heavy sites that appear to be attractions for way left wing FB friendly trolls.
I was able to text since 2001 but over the years I had less reason to text and today I couldn't even begin to text someone. The closet is full of phones, one a smart phone I only used for one month because I was waiting on getting a new isp for internet and didn't want to be disconnected from everything. I tethered the smart phone using a 9 dollar app and had full screen internet until that unlimited actually became limited. I don't know how they get away with the lies when it comes to phones and monthly cost. I will probably just throw all of them in the garbage because I have no intentions of using them ever again. I have one new flip phone, I like millions were forced to buy due to going to 5g. The phone is a 4g which my carrier can serve. The phone is terrible and hard to use so many useless pages and garbage because it is a semi smart flip phone. The one weakness is you can't block any of the spam calls and I have been getting them like 3 or 4 a week, always at nap time. I have no one who would be calling me so I ignore them and just delete them soon as I get up from my nap.
