Apparently some are claiming that Ukraine has targeted oil production facilities in Russia using weapons provided by NATO, i.e., U.S. That will give Russia the justification to in turn target areas that they left alone previously. We in the West get all these reports about civilians being targeted, etc., etc., but I think Russia has passed over most civilian targets. That may change. I don't think Russia even turned off the power in most of the country...or the water supply. The Military-Industrial Complex is rejoicing in this, as the U.S. is shipping huge amounts from their stockpiles to Ukraine, which the Russians are reportedly destroying shortly after the shipments cross the border, thus requiring the U.S. to spend more replenishing their supplies with inflated dollars further inflating the currency. Some of the weapons are making it through obviously, but most are being destroyed. With Finland and Sweden talking of trying to join NATO, they are putting targets on their infrastructure similar to the guy who "open carries" into a public place. It appears that the U.S. and NATO are willing to fight this war to the last Ukrainian....
Before you look on the Ukrainians as heroes ... ... from The Grayzone. https://thegrayzone.com/2022/04/17/...ation-kidnapping-arrest-political-opposition/ Scroll near to the bottom or search for 'Druzenko'. Similarly, Gennadiy Druzenko, the head of the Ukrainian military medical service, stated in an interview with Ukraine 24 that he “issued an order to castrate all Russian men because they were subhuman and worse than cockroaches.” Dave Emory's 4/28/2022 program ( For The Record #1242 ) details political repression by the Ukrainian government and atrocities committed by the Nazi elements of the Ukrainian military. You won't hear this on NBC. https://wfmu.org/archiveplayer/?show=114978&archive=217505&starttime= Scroll down for the program. Fast forward to 4:30 for the castration order.
I’m not justifying the actions nor trying to underplay them either but we experienced the same thing in Vietnam from both sides of the street. More than anything, any kind of mutilation and especially the castration of living or dead enemies has two effects on enemy soldiers. One effect is obviously anger which can cause carelessness and the other is the demoralizing factor. Either way, a careless or demoralized enemy is much easier to defeat. To be sure, I’m not particularly surprised since sadly that type of warfare has been used for centuries. It’s another facet of the harassment techniques that even some of our own soldiers not only suffered from but employed as well.
In Vietnam, our own military was despised and the returning vets mistreated and abused, but I don't recall the North Vietnamese painted as heroes as we are seeing with Ukraine.
Thank you for your service, Bobby. You might be interested in some of Emory's comments in the episode previous to the one I posted. The entire thing is worth listening to but the part I thought you'd concur with is at 8:15 to about 12:45. FTR# 1241 here: https://wfmu.org/playlists/DX Scroll down half a page.
I guess it depends on who likes who so far as that portion goes. The U.S. is pretty much backing Ukraine so it stands to reason that when we see that they are holding off a much larger force then they are considered hero’s even when we hear and read stories of the atrocities that occur in war. In Vietnam, Russia and China were all in with N. Vietnam as suppliers and advisors so anything they did to thwart the U.S. was considered heroism by them. It is as I wrote earlier though. I’ve seen 1st hand some of the extremes that men can go just to make man’s inhumanity to man even more horrendous so again, nothing surprises me.
Basically, this seems to be a dispute between the communists and the fascists, and, this time, we're siding with the fascists. I doubt we'll ever know what this is all about but I have no doubt that it's not about anything that the media has been going on about.
I have to disagree. Putin is taking Russia into a sanction proof business model and further right. With Zelinski's repression off left-leaning opposition it's more like fascist vs fascist. It's true that Putin would like to reestablish the borders of the old soviet union but that doesn't mean the new Russian empire will be communist. Listen to the latest Grayzone article and interview. https://thegrayzone.com/2022/04/25/us-weapons-european-supplicants-block-peace-in-ukraine/ I see no good guys in this war but the Russian military is not committing the war crimes that the Ukrainians are. There's a strategic reason for this rather than a moral one in that Putin would like to have Ukraine's populace more friendly to Russia and moving further from joining Nato. Putin's economic model will be much like Europe and America's - oligarchy disguised as democracy.
I appreciate your service. I didn't serve in the military myself. On behalf of those who never fought I apologize to the Vietnam vets for the way they were disrespected.
I am not defending either one really but I don't trust anyone that Pelosi ,Biden and the gang like or support. Listen to this some time when you have a few minutes. https://dcs.megaphone.fm/ADV9361162799.mp3?key=cdd993e0dc3975c0e8949065d17cb4af&source=3
Just be thankful your children aren't in the trenches. Be sure and vote conservative and stop the communism and socialism here at home or they will be in the trenches. There is nothing that would please people like piglosi and others is to have Ukraine saved so her son can continue to receive that oil and gas money he and his mother are getting from another oil and gas company there in Ukraine and you can bet she went to Ukraine to make sure the payments continue. In today's world you need to understand just who your real enemies are, I know who mine are.
