For all who are interested, the Games section has a thread for the Kentucky Derby 2022, where you can choose a horse.
We are recording it. Like watching the actual race, but don't bet. Love seeing all of the hats! When we lived in So California, my wife won $200 on a bet at Las Alamitos Race Track and it stunned both of us. We do much, much better playing slot machines.
Couldn’t find a good fully inclusive form to handicap the ponies but I took a guesstimation that included 2 / 20-1 long shots and threw it up on games. The jockey’s weights and records make all the difference for a good handicap and to get that information I’d have to go jockey by jockey. Also, there’s a chance of rain so if it does, a side bet on a good mudder wouldn’t be a bad idea but again, ya need a good form to check all that out.
I used to win quite a bit at Charles Town, West VA by boxing a $2 Exacta and pairing a favorites with a long shot, heavily influenced by my liking of their names. At some point I tried actually figuring things out the right way: horse record, jockey record, track conditions, etc. I never won a race that way. I went back to my amateur winning ways.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I definitely would have had that one in my boxed exacta. damn. But I don't do OTB. I enjoy the whole experience, and the gambling is subordinate.
And the shoulda, woulda, coulda’s strike once again. Wouldn’t have had enough to have a sailboat in the Bahamas but new shingles on the roof would have been nice.
Never been to the derby closest thing were the dog races but that was mostly for hubby gambling several decades ago.
Watched the entire thing, from the noon start (our time/MT) thru the Derby. After Rich Strike won, and the pony horse (aka accompanying horse) started leading it, old Rich Strike got somewhat wild. Rich Strike even was biting at the neck of the pony horse. Another pony horse had to come over and try to help calm Rich Strike down. For a number of seconds, Rich Strike was getting pretty wild by the pony horse.
