So??? Atheist have to put up with this kind of stuff. IOW, Silvia, Atheism just isn't that popular in America. Just have to understand that. As far as the person's daughter, there are plenty of 19 year olds in America with kids and are single moms. They have their right to feel as they do about Atheist, just as you do about God.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean you have a lot of choices. Just two. The first is to Love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and the second is to Love your neighbor as yourself. Anyone who really is a Christian doesn’t have to remember those two commandments because they just come naturally. Jesus showed very well that we don’t necessarily have to like what other people do nor even like that person but we should indeed love them and be willing to show God’s love through our actions towards them. Now, the way I talk to you isn’t out of dislike or hatred but I Have tried to get you to focus on the more positive things instead of all the things you habitually harp about. If you believe that I’m writing because I like being on your back I’m only sorry about the way you take things. Life is way too short and getting shorter and you should at least be willing to look at brighter and better things and view other people as your equals until they prove otherwise. That guy Post Malone hasn’t done a thing to hurt you and hasn’t phased your life in any way but yet you hate him. Why is that? His tattoos don’t rub off even if you tried and his attitude shouldn’t be contagious to you and whatever he thinks of his mom is between them so what are you complaining about? I asked a couple of simple questions and your answer is NO. You wouldn’t clothe or feed him even if he was in need but you claim to be a what? Need to check yourself and your belief. Now, so far as your wife is concerned, she doesn’t have anything to do with what you write here because it’s YOU who is doing the writing. You blame much of your attitude on her but it’s still you who does the writing. Wife said this, wife said that and you use it as an excuse Cody. Cut it out. Yvonne takes a beating a lot of times and I do too but I can’t speak for Yvonne and she doesn’t speak for me. Yvonne fends for herself and I do the same unless something is so outrageous that I’d write on the subject anyway. And…..there are many things that we do not agree on but we’re both here and we speak for ourselves.
Bobby, now, in a way, you're being like me, how? Telling people how they should be. There are lots and lots of Christians that have their own version of Christianity. It may differ from yours, but they don't care. You just can't comprehend someone who doesn't like a person full of tattoos. Well, we don't, so either accept that, or don't reply to anything that I say about it. Simple, wouldn't you say? And, so what if my wife says this or that. Don't know how many times I have to say this in Ken's forum, but mainly, I get along very well, like great with the rodeo family, of which you are definitely not part of. We definitely are! If people, young or old, have anything to do with farming, ranching, rodeo, livestock, wife and I get along great with them. They get along with us because we have so much interest in each and I was a "contestant" part of rodeo for a number of years. Anyway, Bobby, why don't you go back to talking to Silvia. LOL
Because it isn’t Silvia who is doing all the hating………. By the bye…..One God. One Bible. 2 simple commandments given by Jesus. That doesn’t sound like there’s room for a bunch of versions of Christianity. You’re either a follower of Christ, or you’re not. It’s that simple. Believing in God or on God isn’t the same as believing God.
My belief about tattoos and body piercings isn't hating, just simply dislike. And, there's a lot of difference. Hate can result in criminal action, whereas dislike is just that "dislike". You must have a number of dislikes, but you sure like picking on me/us for ours. So, my question would be, are you absolutely-100% a follower of Christ? You should know that many Christians create their own version of Bible verses and such. Many go to church, pray, sing, worship and right after church, do their own thing, no matter what that "thing" is. There are numerous people sitting in a sanctuary that will confess their sins, done during the week, just to leave church and do the same sins all over again. Wife and I definitely aren't perfect Christians. Are you?
There is none righteous, no not one. Romans 3:10 The idea isn’t that any of us are perfect for if we were, we wouldn’t need a Savior now would we? So far as the rest of your rant…go ahead and do your thing and play with the gospel all you wish. You have choices and it seems that you have made your choices based on what other people do. Other people didn’t die for you. Jesus did. As for me, perhaps it’s time I simply kick the dust off my shoes at the edge of the city.
I think that you have hit on the crux of the whole thing, @Silvia Benoit , and that is having respect for other people, their beliefs, and consideration for their feelings as a human being. To me, it is important to treat people with respect, irregardless of whether we agree on a subject or not agree. As you said, you and your friend have discussed both sides, so you both can see each other’s reasoning, and neither of you resorted to insults, which is apparently how the people in your first thread post reacted to you. Telling someone that they should be sent to prison because of religious belief, or lack thereof , is pretty rude, and certainly not how I would expect any person to show their Christianity . Nor does it mean that a person does not have morals if they are an atheist, or that they do have morals if they believe in God. I am a Christian, but if I lost my faith today , I would still have the same moral values tomorrow as I have right now, because they are a part of who I am. Believing that the world was created, or got here randomly might make a difference in a person’s mind, but it does not change their heart.
Actually, my wife is darn near like me and I'm proud of her for that. A lot of times in my life I have had morals, and other times not so much or any at all. Of course that's entirely up to the person. There are those in the Clergy who have done very, very wrong immoral things, yet they have always preached, reading from the Bible, the right/Christian things to do. And, Clergy are suppose to be full-outright Christians. There are times that my SIL (wife's sister) who is a professed Christian, has come at me for saying something that she would consider rude. She considers what I might say as rude, while others wouldn't think that way at all. She never understands a joke. Being a full-fledged Christian today can be very, very hard, because of the way society is. A person can easily be called a "Bible Thumper" or other things. A way to look at the word "respect" is........treat those with respect that treat you with respect. I seriously doubt an Atheist is going to get the respect they think they should, from most Christians. In today's society, there is, without a doubt, a whole lot of hate and discontent, like it or not. And, society sure isn't getting better in those two things...........unfortunately, but oh, oh so true.
My wife is highly requesting that I leave SOF for awhile. I really understand why. Will see what happens.
I like to think that I've known some really down to Earth Christians. I recently posted a note about the big name "Christian" grifters. I might also mention that there are those who use both the constitution and the Bible such that they find what they need for the argument at hand and ignore all the rest. By the way, my favorite theologian is a Paul Tillich, who fled to the US from the natzies in the 30s.
There are a number of very down-to-earth Christians, like my wife is. But, her sister can be the very pushy type and so can her sister's one daughter. Not to get off of the topic, my SIL (wife's sister) had a very hard time trying to understand why any business company would tell a group of employees that they would have to move their Bible Study off of company grounds. The company my wife use to work for and she would go to the noon Bible Study. I told her "the company has every right to tell the Bible Study this and, most likely, there were employees that complained about seeing the Bible Study in the small cafeteria". I feel that, in this "day and age" being too pushy about any religion, or basically anything that goes on in society, can be dangerous.
I just saw that China has not contributed one Yuan to humanitarian causes this year, and gave less than 1/1000 of what the U.S. gave last year to humanitarian and relief around the world. That is not only a comment on Atheism, but a hint of what is ahead of us when the U.S. fades from the scene.
Cody, there is only one way to handle those types of people -DISTANCE from them, regardless of who they are. Do not waste time on know it all or negative people.
I don't think anyone is frightened by those that believe that there is no magical god. What frightens believers is when actions are taken to deny them their right to believe in a super being. Some are frightened by science that they label as atheism. I also think those especially frightened by nonbelievers, are religious leaders and they are frightened because their church, organization, club, cult, or whatever would lose control over its members if they were allowed to think for themselves without fear of condemnation, shunning, disfellowship, harassment, and having their life ruined because they dared to speak out against controlling humans that have set themselves up as approved representatives of God, the all-powerful ruler of the universe, to lord over them. Humans are frightened by what they don't understand. If you think about the universe, it can be frightening. I am most frightened by those that think they have the right to torture or kill someone because they are ordained by God. To have any discussion about atheism we need a consensus on what is an atheist. Are the American Indians that believe in the Great Spirit atheist? The so-called "Christian" priests and associates that killed, tortured, and took their children to be taught Christianity or be beaten or killed, taught that they were atheists. I believe in the all-powerful universe. That is the ultimate superpower no one can deny. I hate the labels that controllers like to put on the people. I have never met a true atheist and never will. No one can deny the power of the universe. As the earth nears the sun, life will be long gone in a billion years or less. It seems to me, the big boss is the universe and it doesn't matter how it got here or what you want to call this power, it is the controlling power, the almighty. So don't fear the one that doesn't believe in a magical God, fear the one that thinks they are God and should be the ruler.
