.... straight-faced (if they can hold their faces straight), about not having had plastic surgery. I guess they're told by their agents/closest friends to never tell the truth about that type of surgery.

I happened to just read an article about Charo, a super annoying (to me) but gifted guitarist/entertainer. She denies having had any plastic surgery when the proof is in simply looking at her face and breast implants that she still shows off, apparently, into her 70's.

As one who was in the body business for fifteen years, as a tattooist/body piercer, there is no way I can't spot plastic surgery from across the room. No way!

I just think it's sad, in a way, that people feel that they need to modify their bodies, at times drastically, to keep in the public eye or to please themselves because of some odd issues they may have. Kenny Rogers, Wayne Newton, Melanie Griffith, and on, and on, and.......

Who knows. they think they are saving face as we use to say. I worked for years as a cosmetic advisor and I learned quickly to stop always commending women on their younger look. Many would admit to having something done, so the compliment was wasted- in my eyes.
Yet i would have hunched backed, over dyed hair ladies in their 80 comes in looking for wrinkle cream. I told one regular- your suppose to have wrinkles dammit, your over 80!
My selling skills were not top notch ,but my customers appreciated my honesty.
Wrinkles are story lines , they are a apart of your past. Unless you look like a road map, leave them alone!

@Trevalius Guyus, there are many people who think big/large and multiple tattoos, facial piercings and nipple piercing is wild looking and modifying the body a whole lot. I know you stated that you were a tattooist/body piercer for years, well...................

Those celebrities would question you and, seeing what profession you were in, might have something to say. Just saying.

There are those of us that don't want to, and actually, refuse to, look their age. My wife still colors her hair and I still use Just For Men Hair Color on my temples and mustache. People are always stunned to find out that we are 73/74. Not a single gray hair on either of us!

Excellent answer, @Cody Fousnaugh ! You and Wife are not the kind of people to whom TG is referring to in this thread. He is not objecting about people trying to take care of their bodies and preserve their health and look younger; what he is saying is that so many people have artificial things done to their body (like plastic surgery) and then they lie and say that they didn’t do that.
You happily admit to using hair color, as opposed to trying to tell people that is your real color.

TG has said many times that he eats healthy foods and does his best to look and feel as young as possible, and I think that doing this is commendable. Taking care of your body is totally different than just having a surgical procedure and then saying that you didn’t have it done, and like TG said, you can usually tell that the person “doesn’t look right”.

There was a woman that I used to see at the fitness center with her husband, and then she got a facelift. When she came back her face had no lines, and almost no expression at all, but from her chin down, she still looked like the same senior lady that she was before.

Well, Yvonne, you are right, to a point. That "point" I'm not sure about, but.

The tv Evangelist Joyce Meyers appears to have had a facelift and, since we use to watch her a lot, we could tell. Her lips reminded us of actor Jim Carey's character in The Mask.

Just like in the movie, A League Of Their Own, when Dotty shows up for grand opening of the Women In Baseball, one of the players on the team she was on (when much younger) told her "Dotty, I married a plastic surgeon" and her face sure looked like it.

Actually, if I had plastic surgery done/facelift, I'm not sure if I'd want to tell the truth about it either. If you had it done, and someone asked if you had it done, what would you say?

Yes, Joyce Meyers did have some cosmetic surgery done and the reason I know it to be true is she said so whilst delivering one of her many messages.

The OP is about people lying about those procedures and to that end, Mrs. Meyers never lied about it and moreover, stated that she was happy about doing it.

If someone is asking you if you have had plastic surgery, then it is pretty obvious that they can plainly see that you have, so denying it only makes people laugh at you for lying about it.

We never heard her say that she had done it during any message. We had a hunch that she had, but didn't really know.

As far as I'm concerned, not telling the truth about something is better than possibly getting all of the backlash that could happen. IOW, some things are simply better lied about or not told at all. Only my opinion.

Most likely, a response after answering the "did you" truthfully, wouldn't necessarily be "Your surgeon done a fantastic job. You look great!"

People are delusional. Ever notice how many people think they look young for their age??

News Flash: You ARE your age and that's how it looks. Nip, tuck, dye, pad, enhance, whatever. You can't fool Mother Nature (or most other people.) And a liar is a liar.

You fail to understand, obviously, that those in the body mod business, including tattooists and body piercers, handle people, literally, all day long, everyday. We get a sixth sense about what is natural and what isn't. An example: When you're piercing nipples on silicone/saline stuffed boobs, things are far different, when it comes to setting up perfect placement, than when you're dealing with natural breasts. Unless you've been there, I fully understand why you might post what you did. Tattooing "enhanced" body parts also is different.
