I repeat! You will never fit in until you understand what you are trying to fit into.

There's no pleasing you, is there, Cody?

Waaaah! Nobody wears boots and hats and Western wear anymore!

Waaaah! People are going to be wearing boots and hats and Western wear to the fair AND! THEY! DON'T! DESERVE! TO! because they don't have pictures of cowboys hanging on their walls and don't watch the Cowboy Channel and don't have plastic farm animals on their kitchen counters and, worse yet, they might be millenials who were never in FFA or 4-H.

I would think you would be overjoyed to have an opportunity to wear your Western wear without thinking people were looking funny at you but you're looking at it negatively. As usual.

And, Mary, you have never ever looked at anything in the negative view??? Now, come on, don't lie! This forum is full of "Waaaah", whining complaints/replies to everything.

We know what we "fit into". In July we will be mingling with PRCA World Champions and their families and fans. Going to a PRCA Pro-Rodeo Cowboy Ball (Formal) and then to the Hall of Fame Induction. Then, the night after the Induction, have front-row seats to the high-paying Pikes Peak Or Bust Rodeo.

IOW, Faye..............we have absolutely no problem fitting in at all. Not with the knowledge we have.

So you fit in because of your advanced knowledge and not because of experience or humility. Good to know. Shame on all those people at the fair that can't look at your cowboy costume and realize you have superior knowledge. You should be on the fair board and make sure they pick a more acceptable theme. Shameful to waste all your knowledge on all of us dummies.

You are your "cowboy costume" stuff could really be offensive to many active and former rodeo cowboys/cowgirls and their families.

And, wife and I want to compliment you on understanding just how much knowledge we both have. Yes, indeed "thank you"!

The Colorado Renaissance Fair is starting this Saturday and runs through August. It's in Larkspur, just down the road from you.

July 30th and 31st is Pirate Invasion Week. Make sure to wear your Aye! patch.

I guarantee you that no one there is a poser.

Name one! Name one current or past rodeo cowboy or girl of significance that would be offended. Wearing duds with a Hollywood western fashion flare to fair or rodeo has always been called " a costume" in my family with many rodeo stars and a few Hall of Fame recipients."

While I wouldn't wear short cutoff jean shorts, a crop top, and high-heeled sharp-toed low shaft boots working on the ranch, to church, or even to rodeo, I would for line dancing or two-stepping, whether Texas or Montana style. I had a different costume or outfit for every occasion.

Consider that many at the fair or even rodeo go for fun and socializing. They may be apartment dwellers that go in their everyday clothes. While some may buy the latest fashion western duds blessed by some singer, most don't care anymore and would rather be comfortable. I go dressed like I do every day and could care less if strangers know I was a cattle rancher or livestock judge.

Most working ranch folks wear different clothes working on the ranch than they do to the fair or rodeo. Urban weekends may wear the same clothes since they have no need for fence plier loops on their jeans or the tougher denim. While a common sight on a ranch, cowboys wearing Wrangler RIGGS, a plain belt with a common buckle, and steel-toed boots, are seldom seen at the fair or rodeo. For working, most ranchers around here prefer Carhartts because they are the toughest jeans made. Many ranchers wear overalls for working because of their design that holds tools and keeps under clothes clean and safe from stains and rips.

You see, I just increased your knowledge.

    Wrangler RIGGS.

John, Larkspur is 90 miles south of us. Definitely not "down the road". We'd have to rent a car to go, but we have other things we are doing this summer, for a week.

Ok, Trevor Brazile, whom we have met before and will see him and his family in July. Bobby Motes, whom we have also met and that we will see at the same time. Bobby Harris, that we will see in July also. Shall I go on?? Heck, Faye, just what do you want? On one thread, I even put on pictures of us and some of the World Champions that we've met, including Larry Mahan and Charmagne James.

We go to a rodeo, not necessarily for fun/socializing, but because we know the contestants and follow them. We don't even have to have a Rodeo Announcer tell us about them. We are now following, very closely, Rocker Steiner (Bareback Rider). We met his dad, Sid Steiner, after he won his Steer Wrestling World Champion buckle.

As for us, we like to let people know, by way of knowledge and our western attire, what we like. You may not care what people think about what you are wearing, but we do!

Last night, we were watching the final go-around of Weatherford, Texas's Parker County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo. It was 99 degrees and seen a number of young ladies wearing shorts, very low-cut tops and a cowboy hat. To us, ridiculous, but that just our thoughts. Definitely the "Buckle Bunny" looking types. Even if it was 100 degrees, we'd still be in our Wrangler jeans, Ariat Lace-Ups and a short-sleeve shirt.

I actually met a lady at a local grocery store that shows Paint Horses at halter. When I told her about the theme of the Fair, she said "stupid/ridiculous" to us. I looked at her and said "you're definitely right".

Soooo, let me get this right.
A basic boots and saddles theme for a fair in a state that HAS ranching and cattle is ridiculous but a fair featuring guys in armor challenging each other to sword fights and jousting in a state and country that NEVER had such things is okay.

    Got it.

Very interesting that you know that Trevor Brazile would be offended. I have never met Trevor but from what I have heard from family, he is a nice guy with a great sense of humor just like his Grandpa CC, a distant cousin on the Light side. Sorry but the name-dropping doesn't impress me. Meeting people at an event that you paid to be part of doesn't mean you know them. Any PRCA member can have their photo taken with them.

I am not trying to put you down or belittle you, just simply pointing out that your inflated ego and delusions that you know how others think and feel, might end up making you a fan that every rodeo performer will try to avoid.

As a forewarning, there is an Oregon steer wrestler that will someday be in the hall of fame bar any bad injuries. He has already won several PRCA championships. His name is Jess Brown. I have known him since birth and know his father, mother, uncle, and aunt very well. Be careful before you brag about knowing him or tell others how he feels and thinks.

Which is what woodsmen and construction workers in Maine wear. What might be considered styles by some often came about by reason of practicality rather than fashion.
