Just started as a fluke. I was at a Chinese restaurant with my husband in the early 80's and there was a glass case by the cashier and they had a an imitation jade elephant and I liked it and my husband bought it for me and it took of from there. I have all kinds, real looking ones, all wood ones, cute ones from my kids when they were young, an elephant teapot, you name I have it. My most expensive one is a very small Herend porcelain one, that's a famous porcelain company in Hungary. Think it cost about $150 fifteen years ago. I have this one but in green... http://www.herendusa.com/FIGURINES/Elephants/Elephant+W tusks/Elephant+W tusks||VHB---05266-0-00
Yes, they are because most I can remember when I got them and the circumstances, especially the ones from my children. I also got some gold elephant jewelry. Elephants are making a comeback too, I see them again everywhere. I think I have a blouse from nordstrom my daughter bought me last year with elephants all over it.
I collect hummingbirds for sort of the same reason. I have hummingbird feeders and one day somebody gave me a hummingbird and then it seemed like everybody bought me one every time they would see one. I have never bought one. Did you buy elephants or were they given to you by people who love you?
@Shirley Martin , most were given to me and that's what makes them special. @Holly Saunders , yes I consider my eyes my best feature..they are a darker blue but it never shows in pics. My son when little would say I have spoon eyes, they reminded him of the spoon on the Betty Crocker Box. Also I only like bios or auto biographies now. Some dystopian novels too. @Shirley Martin , don't watch much TV at all and usually fall asleep to reruns of Big bang Theory.
If money was no object and you had the opportunity to take off tomorrow to visit anywhere in the world..would you go...and if so where and why?
Blimey shirleeeee.I'm glad it's not me in the hot seat, I'd have a hard time answering that question..lol
@Shirley Martin , I have to think about your question for awhile...maybe til tomorrow. @Holly Saunders , yes, I would definitely go, I love traveling. I think I would stick to European countries, ones I missed when living in Hungary. I like quaint cities or towns and just walking and looking in shops, stopping at outdoor cafes, visiting old castles, museums. That's my type of vacation. Asian countries might be interesting but no not my cup of tea. Yes, Shirley I would enjoy your company...you're funny. My daughter is planning on a trip to Europe next summer when my oldest grandson graduates from high school. This will be their first european trip. I'm hoping they ask me to come along.
